uhh
Normality_Glitch I had a old account or 2 I cant remember but I've been here for over 2 years just forgot my email's and usernames.
Actually I think sales stayed steady for model year 79/80(remember they were sold in 78 in high numbers),until a spike around 81-82(new body, and interior),and then another spike with the FC introduction, but they didn't sell as many of the FC in 86 as they did the SA in 78/79.We have to remember they sold these cars in other countries as well.I still think the 12A was the most sold rotary Mazda ever made. And we all know the FD didn't sell very well in this country.

Yes they did,but they were not not the normal, and even in 84-85 when we in the US got the GSL-SE they were out sold by the 12A if I remember right. As the prices for these cars climbed(GSL-SE thru the FD)the sales figures went down. They started as cheap sports cars, but they didn't end that way.

They rounded "12a" the way I rounded in elementary school. Observe:
1146cc
well 6 is "five or larger" so round it up to 10 and increment the next digit
Well now the 4 becomes a 5, which is now "five or larger" so I guess we'll round that up to 10 and increment the next digit.
There... 1200... 2 is less than five so it doesn't get rounded. Perfect.
lol.
The names "10a" "12a" and "13b" were based on rounded displacement... the 12a should technically be called an 11a... but because it isn't, people call it a 1.2L. More accurately it should be a 1.15L (which if you asked someone to round it again, would become 1.2L)

Oh yeah, and to add to the original thread subject, I've seen a 1st gen spin loose in a corner doing 80(kph), try to recover, fail, and flip upside down, then fall eight feet down into a ditch.
The driver and his wife both escaped unscathed.
I also saw the aftermath of Manntis' similar crash. Again, he escaped with minimal injury.
I have no doubt about the durability of these cars. Your 4" tree must be some damn strong wood (like Oak maybe?) and you must've been doing a fair bit over 20.
In any case, this thread only invites people to **** talk, so I'm closing it. I'm glad you aren't seriously injured or dead, and as for the getting out of mazdas thing, that's your choice. I personally won't buy anything but Japanese cars ever again, and preferably Mazda, but you can buy whatever you feel comfortable with. But after having hit a deer with my dad's sunfire, I'd never trust my life to anything american made again that's for sure. Those guys just don't know how to make good cars anymore.
