Idles until warmup...

What is this that makes it do that, and what can I do to fix it. If you ever drove a car that doesnt idle and has manual tranny, its not fun at all... please help, i'm sorry if this is a repost, but this is all I need finally.
Thank you

ps: it stops idleing when it warms up. runs about 800 rpm. 79 carbed

im guessing you have a vaccum leak... check around the carb.. i was having a similar problem.. and the leak was around the carb.. i cant describe where it was exactly.. but it was on the drivers side below the air filter housing

check your Anit Afterburn Hose. it's the one going from the back of the carb down to the manifold. i had this exact problem for a while and i found a little hole in my AAB hose.

OK update, I just replaced every single hose in the engine compartment that has anything to do with running, so not like ac hose ect.., but dont worry I have plans for them and already did the cooling hoses. I'm thinking now its something mechanical on the carb thats do this... wow what a pain in the ***, its almost impossible to drive, unless your doing like racing or something... anyway... yea please help me out, thanks alot so far.

Check your idle screw. If you're starting with choke pulled, when it goes in, it'll stall if it's not set high enough. I drove mine for a long time doing the two-foot dance at stop lights/signs to keep mine from stalling.

Well I did all that and still nothing.. Is there something on the carb that actually makes it idle or is there something I can actually set so it will without all the bullshit... This is really ticking my off cause theres no other adjustments, and it seems like the air and fuel mixture screws dont do anything. The big one on top, what does it do, and how about the bottom. What is the rule of thumb to setting them up to make it idle?... please help!....

I believe that 3 turns out is the place to start with the idle and mixture screws. If after unscrewing the idle screw completely, you have no change at all, then yes - you definitely have greater issues afoot

Check and see if your trailing timing is working after the car warms-up.
