idle problems

My 84 rx7 wont idle below 1500rpm. Tried adjusting the idle screw....hell even adjusted it soo much it came off. could this be a timing problem? I havent checked the timing yet, but it runs strong.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks yet?

Sounds like a VL to me.

I refuse to use search because it hates me

I'm almost sure this is a disconnected hose or VL. Is your 'rats nest' still intact?
What part of Texas are you in? One of those Emissions areas?

As far as i can tell....its in tact....and yes, where the car is now....we have emissions. Ima get part of my exhaust replaced tommorrow...and they guys do state inspections there. IF it fails....ima just drive it to where i live and do it as we dont have emissions testing.

Yeah, emissions are harsh and useless

Basically, when you take it to where there's no emissions. . . . TAKE THE RATS NEST OFF.

Not likely, but it isn't helping.

Well I just came back from the exhaust shop and checkers. Got some gas treatment, vacumn hoses and ordered a new air filter (seems like everything for this freaking car is a warehouse item). We replaced the entire exhaust system from the header back. The cats were falling apart inside and clogging the exhaust. Replaced everything with a 2.25 inch pipe, new cat and muffler. Sounds alot better and gained probably 10-15whp. Now im gonna replace all the vacumn lines and wait for the air filter to come in. She sounds and runs ALOT better....even got the idle RPMs down to bout 1100...but still rough

Wow, nice upgrade
So you put a header on there as well? I'm guessing more of a 20-25 HP gain, and about a 5MPG better mileage!

With the cat still in? Not likely.
