Angry Idiot alert!

Okay, I am an idiot. I was putting in a battery in my car and got the darned thing reversed. In doing so I reversed the polarity at the terminals too. In doing so I am sure I severyly damaged my electrical system. I already know the (Admittedly horrible, but it has saved my car from break ins as it is) alarm system is done. I can not disarm the system under any means, just short of rippig the system out. However my thoughts are this, what else should I be looking at, and where are these things? I am sure the alternator needs to be tested, since it is wired directly to the battery, but I can't think of any other items I should be looking at.

Should I check out the stereo system (I really want a new one anyways! ) , starter, fuses????

Thanks in advance,
Chris

you also might want to check the voltage regulator (little metal box on the drivers side between the strut tower and the brake booster)

good luck

Most cars have protection against this (dumb driver prevention). Check for broken fuses and that should be it.

The voltage regulator is in the alternator. Only the 79's had an external regulator.

I haven't ever switched my battery terminals to the wrong ones, however, I swaped the stock battery cable connectors to some Gold ones, and then forgot which was + and which was -....I kind of just guessed and got it right... LoL

Speaking of terminals and what not. I need to change my connectors out, does anyone have recomendations for good quality connectors?

Again, thanks for all your help,
Chris
