Question Ideal Running Temp

Sorry guys i really tried searching, but i couldnt come up with it. I just replaced my T-stat today because i found that the warm up times were rediculous. And my car was always about 1/8th the way up the gauge, as its always been. After putting the oem one in today i found that my coolant was running slightly under the half way mark. This kinda scared me since i'm used to it being so low, is this normal? What is the ideal operating temperature? And I also have the beehive, so i think lower temperatures would be better for my oil cooler. Thanks in advance, Matt

I don't put a lot of trust into the temp gauges on these cars - they seem to run cool as in the needle will rarely come near the half way mark. If it soes, you are probably overheating. I woud say between 1/4 and 1/2
