Too much rust on it to know.. The piping on the other parts do not look like it. Need a BETTER picture of the header to determine what it is.

Looks like the RB short primary model. Could be an RE, but I don't know if they made a short primary model. The pre-silencer is similiar to the RE one though. Bigger pic would definitely help.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the older RB headers did not have the RB cutout logo in the flange. If they all do, from day one, then it's most likely the Rotary Engineering header, and dual pre-silencer.

no ... it's not a MindTrain unit. it's probably a Rotary Engineering unit.

when you take better pics, be sure to get a really good one of the outlet flange. that might help a little bit.

make sure you cut off those cherry bombs! Louverd core mufflers are loud but cause more back pressure than any factory muffler ever!

No doubt about it. That's the front part of a Rotary Engineering system.

I was going to say its definatly not a pacesetter, unfortunately I have one. I made the best of it though by making my exhaust a non-collected type, like the RB streetport system for the FC's.

Pictures!

New pics.. So looks like a rotary engineering? Here are more pics to be sure.

And I should get rid of the silencers? The silencer on the bottom is being thrown out. It has something rattling around in it.
I was going to keep the first silencer and run my factory muffler? Is this a "no no"?

anyone have alink to there websight? I can't seem to find it. Also I'd like to order up a gasket from them.

I don't think RE has been in business for a few years (not quite sure how many) i do have one of their old catalogs somewhere but trying to get replacement parts will be difficult at best and impossible more likely.

As nick812 said, its the Rotary Engineering tuned exhaust. I have it on my rx7 and I purchased it new from RE back in the late 80s or early 90s. I think it sounds good and runs well with it. The muffler has a nice tone as well. Not sure how well it flows but its still holding up well.

Those presilencers are not cherry bombs they are straight through with stainless mesh in them, I think. Anyway, RE is not longer in business, although some guy out of SoCal uses the name and is on the forum here sometimes but its not the same business.

It was an excellent system at the time. You might miss not having both the silencers, might be kind of loud.

As far as gaskets go, you can go to your local Autozoo, and get a stock gasket. It will work just fine.

Make sure it's a gasket that can stand the heat. The original gaskets have aluminum or a metal of some kind so they don't burn out.

yes, definitely a Rotary Engineering system. with one silencer and the factory muffler, it's going to be loud. if the front silencer still works, keep it. discard the one that it rattling and have another (maybe an RB unit or Dynomax or something) welded in it's place. you may want to consider getting an aftermarket rear pan (Magnaflow, Dynomax, whatever) added to that rear section by an exhaust shop. the original RE rear pan was nothing really special.

Keep the silencer if it's not a louvered core. You want preforated core silencers not louvered core silencers.

the gaskets are the same. they fit both RB and RE bolt patterns. the only difference between the RB and RE outlets is that they are flipped 180º. if you notice, the 2 center bolts are at an angle, so for that reason you can't bolt RB to RE perfectly - i'm sure it's not accidentally either. as far as buying them is concerned, from what i understand (wackyracer told me) any reputable shop should carry them, so you may not have to order and wait.
