IAT Sensor mounting position on ITB?

So I'm trying to find a good spot to mount my intake Air temperature sensor with nothing too good in mind. If I tapped this area with a 3/8" NPT and places it in there do you guys think that will work? As in close enough to the inlet or should I be moving it even closer?

Also would I have to get some sort of filter to stick ontop? Something like an oil breather? Thanks

why do you need an air temp sensor, with NA its always going to be ambient, Otherwise as close to the port as possible to minimize air leaks and get the most accurate reading possible.

I recall reading something in the MegaSquirt manual or on their forum that you could place the AIT somewhere in the engine bay. It didn't necessarily have to be within the intake tract. It could basically lay out on top of the engine if you had no other option available. Of course heat soak may be an issue, but only for a few minutes after you shut it off hot - this could also be the case in the stock location such as in the intake elbow of say a 13B-RE or what have you.

Right. I could have said 20B intake elbow, because that's the only IAT sensor I've ever messed with, but figured more people had access to the 13B elbow.

The thing is that I don't have an airbox for this, I will only be using the Sock style air filters

hmm, well the IAT is supposed to measure the air temp going into the engine, maybe if you put the sensor close to the filter?
