I need a quick answer...
I'm removing my rats nest today. I really don't feel like using the old air cleaner, and since I'm headed to NAPA anyway for the vacuum hose, are there any aftermarket air cleaners that fit Nikkis? I would like just a nice, simple, clean looking air cleaner.
Thanks guys!

Besides what was mentioned above, there aren't any that are a "direct" replacement for the stock air cleaner. I got a mr. gasket air cleaner for my car which fits a standard 4 barrel edelbrock or holley and made an adapter. Its not a pretty adapter, but it performed the job. I'm not using it anymore cause I got an edelbrock on my 13B.

You're somewhere on the eastern seaboard, right? If so, and if you intend to run this car during the colder months you may want to reconsider.
These cars don't like to start very well in cold weather at the best of times. But if you remove the heat tube running from the exhaust manifold to the blue filter housing it will be way worse.
This tube allows for a warmer (and therefore less dense, so as not to upset the air/fuel mix when cold) air supply to the engine until it reaches operating temps, at which time a thermostat inside the air intake opens, allowing cold air to enter and closing off the air flow coming in from the tube. Aftermarket filter housings typically do not have provisions for this tube or a thermostatic control to regulate it.
But you could still remove the rats nest and other items such as the air pump and air contol valve while keeping only the essentials such as the stock filter housing and vacuum tubes to the vacuum advance on the distributor.
Of course, if you plan on storing the car during the winter months this is a non-issue.

The exact size the Nikki needs is 3.92". 4 7/32" is 4.218". In other words, unless that adapter is VERY accurate, it won't work. 4.218" puts the rim right on the edge of the flat surface for the air cleaner. I wouldn't suggest using that adapter as its just not close enough to the right size. It would be too easy to get it off center and leave a section of the base open.
Edit, GEEZ, wtf is the bump for. I call post whoring, lol

The RX7s are usually good for about 15F, but below that it's wise to install a block heater and plug it it over night. If you don't the engine is likely to flood before it starts. This is one area where small 4-bangers have us beat. My wife's winter-beater Nissan Sentra XE will start at around -30 without plugging in.
