i know you guys know the answer to this

ok well i just put in a brand new spakin weber 48ida..

the car idles better.. smoother.. and is so much better to drive in total

one problem

when i press on the throttle.. there is a spot where its hard!

like i have to press on it hard to get pass this spot.. but then the car will get alot of gas.. and make the rev jump suddenly because its not a smooth press..

like the old weber didnt have this problem.. i would press the gas and from top to floor.. its all the same pressure u put on the pedal

the new one has this spot thats hard to press but when u pass that particula spot it its normal again..

mine did the same thing and I just oiled the little bearings on the carb itself. just a couple drops of 3-1 oil on both sides and is smooth as ever.

Hey where did you buy your carb and how much did it cost. I've been wanting to buy a new carb for my 12a but I don't know where to start or go??.

how big are the venturies. try using a smaller one. Say if youre using a 44, try 42 and work your way up. also, idle jet makes a big difference too. it works from idle til about 3500 rpm, then the main will kick in. 65 is the base line but I prefer 75 or 80.

oil under where the arrows are pointing, take those little covers off and oil the bearings underneath. I just used some 3-1 oil. I am sure any light oil will work.

Sure. Anything would work. Bicycle chain lube or WD-40, anything. It will attract plenty of dirt too.

no, just use some WD-40. dont over do it and you wont attract too much dirt. even if it does get dirty, you can just wipe it off.

I would say check for a kink in the throttle cable. Whats the set up on your carb? jets and stuff like that.

Man - I currently have the SAME problem. . . But I still have my standard carb on my 12a. I pulled the Air filter off the carb and noticed where the Throttle cable goes into the carb, a bunch of levers and ****, I too just sprayed WD40, and it SEEMS to have made it a little better. . .I still notice a lttle "area" that i have to pass as I depress the throttle - hope all the connections are ok and the cable too. . .

this is wat i followed

taken straight from ausrotary member

"I would suggest the following.

38mm chokes. You might have to get a set machined if you cannot find any.

F2 emulsion tubes
190-200 air jets
180-190 fuel jets
F10-65 idle jets

Alternatively you can use

F11 emulsion tubes
120 air jets
180-190 fuel jets

F11's do seem to be more suited to big ported engines though, and in my experience they do not work as well in normal engines as the F2 emulsion tubes. "

i done the second setting
(F11 emulsion tubes
120 air jets
180-190 fuel jets )

.. but i have 37mm chokes instead of 38mm
