I know this is a dumb question but the racing beat straight pipe that takes place of the cat, is that considered a presilencer or just a straight pipe?

so let me get this straight. A straight pipe is just a straight pipe. A presilencer is something else. Now I see. I visited Racing beat and the sell cat replacement pipe and presilencer pipe. So next quiestion. Which is better? The presilencer obviously quiets down the sound but does it have some restriction of flow????

pre silencer has some restriction, not much IMO but some. think of it as a trade off, how obnoxious are the cops in your area? if they are really obnoxious than the pre-silencer is the way to go.

If you you race a lot, have the local muffler shop re work the flanges to make a slip joint with springs to hold it on. so yu could througha straight pipe on for the extra 1~2 hp yu lose, or better yet go take a solid dump, lose a pound in the process, and end up with the same result without the noise (if you don't understand that joke, pm me)

if you use the pre silencer you will need to buy a header along with the silencer but cat pipe hooks straight to stock header...............

the same restriction as a cat or less for a presilencer? Was thinking about running straight pipe from header to muffler. Is this obnoxiously loud??

yes. loud. a presilencer is like a glasspack, or cherry bomb. straight through, yet has a sound dedining outer core. it's a good amount queter than a straight pipe. also stops the chimes.

neither. and those prices are wack.

a cheapo priced truck size glasspack will do. if ur worried about them "burning out" use 1 for each exhuast port. @ least the ones here in SoCal last for a very long time.
