Cool I just weighed my 12a

And she weighs in at 218.1lbs. This is a 12a with no manifolds, no clutch, just flywheel, waterpump, dizzy, and the basics.

So how much do they weight without the dizzy cap and the oil filler cap J/K

I guess they don't weigh a whole lot at all.

218.0lbs

The water pump weighs 14.6lbs, just in case you cared

And according to other info I've read, this engine has a 26lb flywheel. So if you got a 10lb aluminum flywheel, and made up a custom intake mani, and got a header, you could have a complete running 12a that weighed like 215lbs, plus the weight of oil and coolant.

If it's a short race and for enough cash, you don't need coolant or oil either...

Or perhaps the Honda would be better suited for that... Half a ******* hour with no fluids... Damn

Thats more than I would expect a 12A to weigh. I figured around 150lbs. Well, there goes my chances of taking the engine out without an engine crane.

me and a friend almost got a 12a out of a 7 with just our arms and a peice of angled iron.. we got it to our shoulders, but couldn't get it any higher.. should've taken the manifolds off.. oh well, we figured it weighed that much after almost giving ourselves hernias...

The 4 port 13B I just rebuilt has the heaviest flywheel ever at like 33LBS (REPU style). It also has a GSL-SE exhaust manifold and an Hitachi carb with the cast iron base plate. Not to mention a cast iron FB waterpump.

With clutch assembly, alt and dizzy on, but minus the manifolds, It felt the same weight as my stripped 20B on the engine crane. I'm affraid to weigh them on my mom's glass bathroom scale.

Thats a good piece of info that means i should be able to carry one out of the junk yard. We have a local yard that is 10 bucks for any thing you can carry out the gate. Cheap motor! even if it needs a rebuild. BTW anybody got a weight on a 13b?
