I Hate Ups!!!

ok so i see the truck out my front window!! YAY my NEW WHEELS!!! i go outside and greet the guy

he says i have to pay $66 for EACH BOX (for duty and taxes) they were shipped from the U.S. to Canada from "7mania" a FD guy here on the boards

apparently 7mania sent 4 shipping forms 1 for each wheel as they told him to

now they're trying to charge me 4 times the amount!!! ********!

i refused to pay and they said that if the shipper can send a new form..that's 1 new form, not 4, for 4 boxes, not 1....then they can adjust the price...

so no big deal right? well i call him in Penselvania....and his father answers and hangs up on me...who knows why...i call back 2 more times, and finally he answers, all mad and everyting...and i try to explain the situation, and he says that his son has gone to Vietnam for vacation!!!!...7mania did say he was going, but **** i wasn't expecting this problem!!!

anyways, his dad said he'll try to get a hold of him and tell him to call me, but who the hell knows if this will happen.

if i don't pay the $270 or whatever, the wheels will get shipped back to pensylvania, and I will be out the $500 USD i paid for them...****!!!

so mad today! thanks for reading

Why not send them back and spend a weekend to g0 on a drive and go get the wheels that you want than you may not have to pay all of the duty\taxes on them.

just a thought

Yeah... Also a good lesson that UPS blows. Always ship USPS or Fedex - NEVER UPS. They just rape people at the border.

As for this situation nick, see if you can have them taken to a bonded warehouse. I know that UPS will do that, but they don't like to make it easy for people because then everyone would do it and they would lose their huge border profits. Call up UPS and ask how you can get them sent to the warehouse. Although maybe it's too late now that they're in Canada. Essentially what sending to a bonded warehouse does is that the items don't actually clear customs until you pick them up; essentially you manage your own customs clearing rather than UPS doing it.

they told me to send in a new senders form (basically pretend im the sender) and fill it out stating that there is ONE order with FOUR boxes, NOT VICE VERSA....they said after that, they should only charge me the tax/duty for 1 box, not 4!!!!

still i think that the $66 is VERY steep for a set of $500 wheels....

and still that $66 WILL be more even if it is ONE shipment, because the value will be much higher!!!

i hate this so much....to top it all off, my winter car '91 civic has been in and out of the shop in the past 2 weeks, i've spent $1000 on tows, and fixes...its rediculous

first the alternator goes, so i get a new rebuilt one...then the diodes go on that one...so i get a junkyard one in there...then the distributor goes, i get a junkyard one, put it in, and it works for 1 day...i have the car towed again to the shop and they replace that distributor with another distributor...(from wreckers)...so im driving home tonight and half way home (50 km drive every day) the car dies again...$80 to have it towed back to the ******' shop.

sorry guys im really stressed...bad times for me.

so don't ship with ups eh?

do the other companies often skip the whole duty tax thing?

also, this is the first time i've ever bought anything from someone on the net, so i've no idea what to do in these situations....

my rx7 will be coming soon from california...i hope i don't have any unexpected surprises with the car....CAN'T WAIT!!!!

anyone got any good suggestions for car shipping companies?

to go from california to buffalo, the quotes range from $740 to $950. (i'll be driving the car over the border to niagra falls canada)!!

Hey Nick. Kind of off topic, but a quick thought on your misbehaving boinger car. Sounds like all electrical type thingies are blowing out on you, right? Might want to take a minute to give your grounds a close inspection, or maybe look for a short somewhere. Just a thought. Good luck with everything!

Sorry to hear about your troubles...

Fedex and USPS just charge a flat brokerage fee at the border and it's usually reasonable. Fedex is $5 per package I believe.

UGH!!!

so i resolved the issue (sort of)... i paid $148 for duty and tax on the wheels

but then when i opened all the finely packed original boxes, and looked at the wheels..guess what!!! one was obviously dropped hard, and is showing on the lip of one of the wheels...the jerk driver was even being sooo rough with the boxes right in front of me...i made a comment, and he didn't seem to care.

anyways, im fighting with them now to replace the wheel, or give me some cash...

but at least i have the wheels!!! now i just need the car to arrive!!! LOL
