I feel like a ***

So, I recently added new oil seals to my motor. Since the car was blowing oil for a bit the exhaust was full of oil. I added a little mystery oil to the engine to gain some compression so the car was already smoking bad. I was running my car in the garage tonight trying to burn all that junk out of the exhaust and my wife tells me someone is going to call the fire department. Someone did. 4 alarm fire at house. By the time the trucks got there the garage was cleared of smoke but I still feel like a *** and I don't know how I can clear the rest of the garbage out of my exhaust.

Besides my RX-3, i have 2 first gens and another RX-3 that get a monthly start-up and 5 min idle time, 2 squirts of engine oil per barrel prior to starting. I always use a large electric fan at full blast behind the muffler. It blows the smoke immdiately. Besides that, a good relationship with the neighbors help. So when they hear brap brap brap, they know it is safe not to dial 911 lol

Good thing you weren't doing a SeaFoam treatment in the garage.

Prior to Seafoam, we used regular old Auto Trans Fluid - and similar experience when I used it to de-carbon my 13b. Recognize that this is no longer a recommended procedure though, because after I de-carboned it with ATF soak, THAT is when it started smoking perpetually for the past 15k miles. I don't recommend anyone put anything designed to cut through oil into a rotary engine anymore.

If you need compression, add a small amount of engine oil because the engine already gets a pretty good dose of that and it's nothing foreign to the seals. Good luck,

wouldn't using high octane gas help de-carbonize the engine?

No, unless it had more detergent additives than what you were using did. The diference would be minimal. Seafoam would be better, or regular use of somthing along thr lines of mmo (which the benifits ofuse are controvercial sometimes).

If there is indeed oil in the exhaust running the car is the only practical way to disperse it. I would pay close attention to the oil level to make sure the smoke wasn't coming from oil being burned inside the engine.

Its suposed to smoke
Thats why I put a touch diesel in my fuel every now and again. Along with the normal pre-mix oil.

And I love "clouding out" my neighbors with ATF and whatnot.

Next time tell the fire department to give your nosy neighbor a citation for falsely reporting a fire.

Yea, probably should have done that outside. And maybe next time, tell the neighbors what you plan to do before you do it so they don't think your house is on fire, lol.

One of the main problems is I live on a small lake. The people who ended up calling were across the lake. I had the fan blowing the smoke out the back door of the garage, over the lake. Can't blame people for looking out.

do you pre-mix with the omp still attached? or do you lack faith in the omp system?

a cop told me when I was 14 burning a tree stump to probably do that really early or at night (so frantic mothers won't call in a fire)
