I Drove!!!! My 79 Sa Today

well i finally got the thing cranked today, have no idea what i did to get it going but finally after messing with this and that it cranked. i adjusted the mixture a little bit and let it warm up. then backed it out went and got my fiancee. we both got in backed it down the driveway and i put my first 5 miles on my rebuild. i just went around the neighborhood, did not get above 3000 rpm and probably not over 35 mph or so but its a huge step in my project. the brakes did not work but hey i still had the handbrake and downshifting. i still have some work to do on it with getting the throttle response up but i cant complain i drove around a little and was able to park it with no problems other then teh front brakes smoking. the front ones were a little tight from the begining so of well ill fix all that another day. jsut thought i would let everyone know its seen the pavement. thanks for everyones help so far and i will most defintalty need more later but for now, im in a good mood. i wanted to go more but my fiancee wanted me to end on a good note so i parked it back in the garage. thanks for the help thanks robert

Congrats Robert!!! I want everyone else to know that I can personally vouch for the kids effort. He has a good head on his shoulders, and makes a good addition to the club. He is new to the Rotary family and like many of us that started on the RX, has seen the light. There is just something about a new Rotary coming to life that will bring the baddest dude out there down to their knees. Good job Robert, I will help you with your efforts in any way. Give the kid a hand.

I just want to mainly thank Kent (gsl-se addict) and Sam (bad 83) and Bryan (rotorhead) for all the help. kent helped me get my electrical nightmare fixed and once it had spark i was having problems idleing and mixture and being i am still new to all this i stubbled upon Sam, and gave him a call, and he came up and got the mixture and all right for me and taught me how to adjust the carb and a few other tricks. Also thank Bryan at rotorsports racing and his crew for my motor and support after i got it back and all the crap he had to deal with on my fuel end. well i just thought some of the guys who helped the most should get some credit so thanks guys and i most likely will be needing help later but thanks for all so far thanks robert

Sweet, man. Glad to hear that you got to take her for a spin. It is always nice when all the effort you put into something pays off in the end. No problem on the help. Happy to help anytime. I bet you will really enjoy it once it is all broken in and you can take it to redline.

Kent
