Dan, please don't think its all haters here, we're honestly concerned for your, your passengers and other people on the road's safety.
That said, if you measure the car's roof gap and compare it to your uncut car, if its good weld in a couple of braces temporarily to hold the shape until you get the cage "welded" in. If its closed at all, try supporting the underside with a large piece of 2 X 10 lumber across the entire floor under the cut area and then jack it carefully, measuring regularly. No guarantees but it may bring the roof back to original position until you can get the cage in again.
I repeat, we appreciate someone doing things to improve the cars and using imagination but be sure they actually are done safely in future, I have a race car shell pretty heavily cut up at this time, but I wouldn't dream of removing the roof.

Probably could, if it can be worked around the doors so that they still work and the bars don't protrude into the passenger compartment too far.
I would keep as much presure as possible off of the tops of the A-pillar from the dash up. Without the roof structure in place, those bars are flimsy and cannot support the loads any more.
To stiffen it up properly, I think he will stll need to add door bars that are X-ed from the bottom of the door glass down, or Nascar style door bars. Yes, I tend to over build for safety, but you usually only get one chance if you're wrong.
