I could use some advice

Just picked up an 82 gsl. It had been sitting since 97. and was missing the distributor. Well the first thing I did was check for compression and it seems to have 4 decent puffs out of the 6. but they don't seem as distinctive as they should be. I pulled the exhaust manifold and checked the apex seals. they all look good and intact. lot of carbon in there but otherwise good. I imagine the seals are stuck. I was thinking of dumping atf in there but The motor won't start after putting the new distributor in. Also when i drained the oil there was alot of gas in it. very old gas, it stunk so bad. What do you guys think I should do?
Thanks alot guys

fill up with cheap oil for the time being
mmo it and let it sit a few days
mmo again and let it sit again

new plugs/wires
try to start it, you might hve to pour gas down the carb

after you get it started run it a bit and then change the oil for good stuff

its gonna take a LOT of cranking to fire it up after sitting that long.

push it, or roll it down a steep hill and pop the clutch in 2nd.

first of all ... if the exhaust holes you're referring to are the ports, meaning you're cranking it without the manifold ... do yourself a favor and either put the manifold/header back on it or have a fire extinguisher handy.

with that said ... how are the plugs?

sorry guys. it was all in vein. upon further inspection i found that the rear rotor is missing an apex seal. It really looks like there is one in there but I guess its just the inside of the lip in the rotor. guess i need a new flashlight. yeah now that i think about it i'm glad it didn't start prob would have caught the garadge on fire.

You can be sure if you have any bad apex seals if you put both hands on L spark plug holes and have someone else crank the motor.
