How to remove front plate bracket

Hi all - recently purchased an 84 RX-7 from the original owner with only 40k miles! Awesome little car. In my state we do not require a front license plate and I would like to remove the front plate bracket / holder. Underneath the bumper I see two flat caps, no screws or bolts. Is there a way to remove the caps or otherwise access the bracket to remove it?

Thanks, really excited with my new toy!

Welcome!

You'll probably have to remove the black plastic grill (4 screws) to give yourself enough room, but there are nuts on the other end of those studs - The bumper support is just a C shaped piece so you have easy access to them, they aren't really hidden. It just takes a 10mm wrench

Yeah, the front plate on these cars is such an afterthought! I made a bracket for mine that angles it down and hangs it lower so it doesn't completely ruin the look of the front end. I really should just remove it and take my chances...
