How Rare is the GSLSE
Your '79 wasn't an SE.
The SEs are GSL-SE 13B models available in North America, 1984-1985.
Your '79 was what is referred to as 'SA' based on its VIN.

Welcome to the forum. Check out the faq page about the SA, FB, FC, FD stuff. Its all in there. Plus, S1, S2, S3, etc. You will learn some good stuff in there. The SA model was 79-80. Also check out the archives for great info and the search button is the most helpful probably. God bless. Post some pics when you can.
Weren't something like 15,000 GSL-SE's made? I would much rather have an early SA with the driver's side mirror and left hand side hood prop. They look so 70's. And they're cool as hell.
There are alot of GSL-SEs out there, but thats probably due to the fact they are the top-of-the-line first gens and the people who bought them planned on keeping them for a while. My GSL-SE had 290K miles when I bought it from a guy who had had it for over 10 years. Still ran like a champ and the everything including the A/C worked. It is currently getting a TII heart transplant and will be a beast when done.
How Rare is the GSLSE
Beg to differ on the SE part. On the "b" pillar was a nondescript "SE". It didn`t have a sunroof either. It was a `79 and I finally wrecked it. I`ll see if I still have pictures and if the "SE" is visible. It was very light weight and a friend had a `79 Vette that couldn`t hold up to it at all...
OK. Found pictures but I can`t quite make out the "SE" on the B pillar. I can see that something is there but can`t read it. Also might have had a sunroof...the one that didn`t was an `83, sorry `bout that...

I have to agree an SA in great shape is hard to find, oh, you can ask Jerry also, doh!
I have to agree an SA in great shape is hard to find, oh, you can ask Jerry also, doh!HA! For some reason they come three or four at a time. Let me see, there were 15,000 made. I sold over my lifetime about 10 to 15 of them. Stripped and killed another 15-20 and I am adding 3 of them to the memory lane. But I am fixing ONE right now.
I guess they don't look rare to me, but they are/will.
SAs are the collectibles right now. Should have kept Yellow 1 which was the hybrid.
McMarc has it now. Check him out.
