the 12a in my car saw 7000-7500 rpm on a daily basis for the past 4 years and 70,000 miles, it has 177,000 miles on it total and just in the last 1000 miles the oil pump drive chain started to stretch and contact the front cover. other than the oil pump drive chain and a bit of low rpm oil seal seepage it ran great.

now it has a 13b in it, so i will be tearing down the 12a and taking lots of pics.

lmao glad to hear you like carbon build up! Be sure to keep your rpms below 3k all the time like a deisel hitting 5k may destroy the engine designed for high rpms.

in fact..why bother even starting it up? I hear that's bad for it as well...just put the 7 in the driveway in a 'static' display...that way the tires won't wear out either..not to mention the brakes

Sorry Grandma but they made too many 7s to ever be very valuable, so I'll just keep on enjoying my lil fun car.

Did you capitalize every word? How does your shift Key still work?!

And, I disagree, there's no need to redline EVERYTIME you drive, it's fun, but it shouldnt be constant.

Rarely ever.
I realize I have a twenty year old car & do not want to kill it.

You all go ahead & wear out the cars & blow up enginnes.

I'll keep mine.

85 gs 12a, ac, at, 65k miles, bought from the little old man & woman that bought it new
i only drive it on the weekends when the weather is nice, otherwise it is covered up w/car cover.

These little cars seem too light to go too fast in, seems to want to "float" above 85 hopfully the spoiler will help when I get it installed.

the senior citizens are running rampant! the country diner is having a 2 for 1...reving my 7 up to redline in 2nd to 3rd is not killing it..my 20+ year old car enjoys knowing it's alive..my god man how do you merge onto an expressway? hazards on? a white flag waving? in my time i've seen more cars expire from non-use than hard use..sure there's a limit to the hard use...but these cars are made to rev..I could barely keep up in traffic if I shift below 3k rpm..why do that? and in 20+ years of use it hasn't expired..imagine that

whats your point...you have a dick don't you? or you don't use it so you can save up on semen life aswell? my motor makes power at 8k rpm...i rarely take it to 8k but it sees 3.5 driving on the street and 5.5k on the highway to cruise....take it to 7k to play around and 8k to lay down the law . no its not stock .

I get it warm, head out for a drive usually hitting 4000 in 1st, 7500in second and 3rd to slow down because my street has come to an end.
I go into the red at least once every time i drive, motor has about 50k on the clock and is getting a bit smoky in 1st and 2nd, only above 4500 and only a puff or so,.
The buzzer hits at 8000 and i forget the last time i heard it but rev it because it can take it unless it's race standard don't take it over 8000 and it will be fine.
Rotors rock! The only piston at my place is in the compressor!

These cars are extremely stable at high speeds; much more than most I'd say. As an example I was in an SE that was doing about 110 mph on a pretty windy day and it was still stuck on the road good. Unfortunately at the crest of a hill was a large semi coming into the wind in the opposite direction and there was no time to slow down. The truck was pushing so much air it was like hitting a wall - the car slowed 10-20 mph instantly, and the force was enough to blow the front window trim off the left and top-left of the window. Nevertheless, the car simply crouched down an inch or so and stuck to the road even harder. The aerodynaics are there; these are fine at high speeds.

If your car floats, upgrade your 20 year old suspension, thats called maintenance.

The engine was built to rev, the factory redline is 7000, unless you know more than the engineers who designed it, start using it for what it is; a fun car that was built to be enjoyed, not a way to get from A to B, but a way to have fun.

If and when my engine fails it will be rebuilt and ported until then I will keep on driving it like I love it. I'm not talking about illegally either just having fun.

Got Brap.....Then damn well use it....

I would say i hit redline about once every other time I drive and I definatley take it to 6k every time, although sometimes hearing the tires squeal during gear changes encourages me to take it to redline again...and again.....
