Body is toast, too much damage and bad prior repairs. My shell is going up for sale soon, you shoukd still buy it.

You're going to need to find an S or a GS model without a sunroof, but I don't think that will give you much more head room.

well if I end up convincing this guy that it's only worth about $50, I'll be able to see how little headroom there is with a sunroof, and decide whether I want to get your shell.

So I went and jacked it up this evening and looked over the underside. It's not salvagable. It has accident damage, and the mount for the traction bar on the left rear of the car is all but gone. The frame rail under the drivers seatpan has a hole large enough for me to fit 4 fingers into it easily. There is a hole next to the traction bar for the passenger rear suspension that I didn't see before. There are rust holes all over the bottom. Before I made my offer he was like "wow, you sure are thorough with your inspections." I offered him $75. He told me that he'd have to think about it for the weekend, because he has a friend that wants the exhaust system, but then was going to junk the rest of the car. I think i'll be able to get the car, sans exhaust, for about $100.00. It fired by dumping fuel down the carb, but the fuel pump wouldn't work, so it wouldn't keep on going, but it firing was promising. I'll know by monday if I get the car.

I wanna buy it, too bad im 16 and live in louisiana............ thats an awsome car, 200$myass.... no offense but , that cars firewall is still very intact!. the hood and frame can be removed. Go to a junkyard and get another for 60$. get a motor for 800$ throw on a nikki, and custom rpm brakes, rear end. front in all custom. you got yourself a race car.

it's a unibody car, the frame is integrated into the rest of the car. there would be alot of custom work involved in making the car safe to drive again. If I get it, the interior is going into my base model (with the exception of the headliner and the bin lids, they were cut for 6x9's, and without the stereo surround. Mine is still *almost* mint. the engine, trans, and LSD rear are coming out, i'm going to overhaul the rear end and swap it with some poly bushings into my car, see if anyone wants any of the leftovers, and then scrap it. it's not worth my time or effort, or money for that matter to attempt to save this car. it's too far gone. i'll post pics of the carnage i uncovered when I jacked her up if i get her.

So the guy sold the car as a drivable vehicle. I hope that he has a good lawyer, becasue it's Ann Arbor, and he sold a vehicle that is dangerous, and he has prior knowledge of it. He sold it for $500. Oh well, the hunt continues for a parts car in my area.

meh, i'm not too worried about it, i'm still thinking about buying Trochoid's shell. I'm not a fan of the way cars with sunroofs look, and the headroom issues that i'm looking at are caused by the thick stock seat cushions, not so much the sunroof/headliner.

If the guy GAVE you $650 to take the car, it would still take you 4 times that amount and a year of hard labor to make it as good as one you could probably find for sale in the forum today for $1500. I guarantee you could save up another $1000 bucks to get a decent car a lot faster, and way easier, than fixing a rust bucket. Take your time and find where to look for these cars. There's plenty out there. A lot of people find a classic car in their neighborhood and think it's a rare find. Unless you come across the old lady who has her late husbands old Ferrari out in the barn, you'll find that there's more than enough to get a good deal.
