my current guess is abut 11000.
1500 for the car
1000 for body work
250 for rebuilt carb
1000 suspension, tires
300 weber 45 dcoe
400 exhaust
600 turbocharger
300 stainless steel oil and fuel lines
500 rest of fuel system
200 carb hat
600 intercooler and related plumbing, brackets
250 fuel cell
250 clutch
125 optima redtop
50 battery relocation
.... a whole lot more.

it gets easy to spend wayyyy more than you ever imagined on a car. I'm proof!

The 83 I sold a few years ago was the worst

$700 for the car
$50 for the tow dolly rental
$2300 for the MAzdaTrix rebuild
$700 for the full monza Exhaust
$600 for rotors, pads, drums and ebrake
$90 for battery
$60 for plug wires and plugs
$160 for cd player
$25 in carpet cleaner
$60 in diamond cut headlamps
$32 in Silver face guages
$80 in coil packs
$60 for fuel pump and filter
$68 for carb rebuild kit
$72 for starter
Some other things...cant remember, trying not to...

So over $5057... sold it for $2200 with only 800 miles on the rebuild.... I'm an idiot.

I think I got off pretty lucky. I spent most of my cash up front on a solid car with mods already done.

85 GSL- 70,000 miles, perfect interior, good body and paint, rear wing, tinted glass, tociko springs and blues all the way around, rb sway bars front & rear and 7CD changer installed to stock stereo- about $3,500

I've spent-
BBS 15x7 black mesh rims- $160
Mariah front air dam- $250
RB dual system- $300
New Kumho rubber- $200
Sterling Carb- $300 (if I recall- whatever they charge)
Fiero GT elec. fan- free
Holley FPR- $35
Weber Fuel Pump- $185
Fuel pressure gauge- $45

I'm thinking of building a 12A SP or 13B 4 port SP for later on. I think I can manage to get most of that done for under $500, not including new intake/carb if needed..
I might upgrade to Illumina shocks and RB springs- dunno yet.

That's about all I plan to do. So maybe $6,000 total in the next 5 years? Not bad, I guess.

Well, i guess i'll take out of the equasion my registration/tags/titleing/inspection which all in all ended up being about $350.

84 gsl-se w/95,000 miles = free from friend
Leather shift boot, new fender, other misc. little stuff = $80
rockford fosgate punch 550S amp = $150 on ebay (refurb)
two 10" sony xplode subs = $40 each on ebay (refurb)
two 6 x 9 sony xplode speakers = $54 for both with boxes
sub box = $20 (made it with a friend, took less than a full sheet of mdf)
new spark plugs = $25ish
paint = $15ish (just for touch up/interior stuff)
new belts = $20
wire for system = free, left in car from previous owner
kenwood cd player = same as above
interior blacklights = $20 from ebay (2 of them)
interior neon lights = $20 from ebay (4 of them)
switches to control lights = free (from a junkyard)
euro gauges (not yet installed) = $40 from ebay, will have to wait till i un-winterize the car
RB powerpulse muffler = $300 total w/shipping (i installed it)
new window switches = $5 each from radio shack
new front bose speakers from early 90's junkyard maxima = $3 each
2nd gen wheels = free from my quasi-dead 87 base rx-7
2nd gen alternator = same as above
leather e-brake handle = old shift boot from 87 base rx-7
radiator flush + antifreeze for winter = $25
surgical wire to help me do some body work = free
most tools used = free (most gifts, some are dad's tools)
carpet for sub boxes + other parts from a friend = $40

grand total so far = probably just over a grand all in all.

things on my short list:
1) new radiator / any hoses needed (figure about $300 total?)
2) e-fan(s) ($100ish is my ballpark guess)
3) new tires for 16" performance wheels (i'll get low profile summer tires which will total about $450 total)
4) professional tune up from rp performance in manassas virginia (pretty easily will be $1,000 unless i need a re-build (high probability) which will run me well over 2k... and i don't have that at all.

anywho, so far I'm just over a grand, not bad for a 84gsl-se that ::always:: turns heads

Set of + wheels from a '82: $100
Header/Presilencer: $210
Koni struts: $80
KYB shocks: $80
6 Sumitomo HTR 200 Tires: $616
RB Springs: $250
Magnaflow Muffler: $130

GSL Rear Axle: $200
New rear brake rotors: $120

My first FB I broke even on. Got for $600, sold for $600. No motor or interior, but the most Beautiful shell I've ever seen. CYM in color. I don't like yellow. I did have to bring it home though, and that cost more than $100. oh well.

My second FB I traded an MR2 that I had almost $3k into.. sold for $1800.. oops.

my 10AE I will never sell, ever. I have $7500 into it. It doesn't run. .

my First parts car I got for $20 in gas. Sold about $300 in parts off of it so far.
Next FC I got for $500 and sold for $650, cost $150 in gas... so I guess I just broke even.
Next FC Parts car I paid $650 and sold for $480.. but got all the parts I wanted. Definatly broke even, maybe even made out.
Current TII parts car I paid $400 for.. haven't gotten cash for anything off of it yet, but it'll make me money, I'm sure.

my next FB I'll lose money on for sure, because it's going to be a race car of some sort, and nobody EVER makes money on them. EVER.
