how much could this be worth ??
i paid 500.00 for my 1983 gsp (limited edition). its extremly clean. even came with the origonal window sticker from the factory. all service records up to 120,000 miles. car was kept in central georgia so theres basically no rust whatsoever. new tires. the previous owner moved into a high class neighborhood and couldnt have a (jelopy) parked in the driveway.
ummm,... it is not a gsl-se in fact it has an aftermarket roof , i have a gsl-se and it looks nothing like this and has a 13b witch all gls se's had . also a gsl does not have the cheap looking roof , they have the same roof as a se ... unless you are talking about a different car then the one in this thread

my cousin just bought a GSL (not an SE) from stockton, ca. about a month maybe a month and a half ago just for $380 and it runs hard, the only thing that was wrong with it was the rear end is going out... but we're changing it now
I wouldnt pay more then 1k for anything thats not running. I bought my 79 for 1500. but it has a 4port 13b that was allready streetported with dual carbs. the guy wanted 1800 talked him down to 1.5. i didnt beileve him when he said he could part it out for more then he sold it to me for...now i know.
I found a solid runner with only 170,000 km (100,000 miles) with an excellent interior for $500. Ending up patching a few little rust holes in front and behind the rear wheels, took care of 2 rust spots on the drivers door, painted the door and touched up the rest. Then put a bra that I had in the garage on it, a collection of used exhaust from some buddies (cheap and freebies), rear tail light lenses ($20), rear bumper ($20), replaced clutch fan (had one in my garage), 4 almost new winter tires (buddy deal, $150), hubcaps (wreskers sales $4) and a new stereo. Buffed and polished her up, painted window trim. Engine was a grease pit which preserved everything! Once pressure washed the engine shined like new, especially the air cleaner. $1250 invested and sold for over $2000.
This is my newest project, dealer told an aquaintance of mine the motor was no good. I provided the option of doing the deflood, replacing the injectors which were leaking and a 50/50 gamble she's run for a fair price or take an offer. Took my offer, car is awesome. Only problem now is tracing down an electrical short, I've done a bandaid repair to get going in the meantime. I won't sell it until it is 100%. proceeds from the sale of these 2 are funding the bridgeport for my supercharged SE.
That red one would buff up beautifully, red is a rewarding color to work on. Do a clay scub, then complete 2000 grit wet sanding, then cut polish, then fine polish, then glaze and finally wax and sh'd be sweet (12 + hours loving labor). As for the motor, that's a gamble. Running, $1200 is fair, as is I'd say $500 or up to $1000 if you really want it, have access to a running 12a for under $500 and can do the work yourself. Take a look as some of the progress on my work (amateur!), the dull part is after a 1500 grit initial and 2000 grit final wet sanding. http://optimumforums.org/index.php?showtopic=58 worth watching.
I hate these damn threads. They remind me of how little my car is worth, and how much more than that I have in it. Lets eveybody raise our glasses to the idea that they will grow in value as the years go on.

It's amazing how some people will do no research on how much cars like theirs have sold for previously. All he has to do is look in the completed items to see he is dreaming. That car is rusty and the interior is not that great.

But to all of you posting the prices you got your FB's for. . .when did you buy them? I just recently bought mine, and I know that unless I was willing to ship from CA or WA, anyone selling a 1st gen on the east coast wanted ridiculous amounts of money for them. Mostly over $2k for running cars in just ok body condition. I managed to get mine running (but still needing some tweaking) with a good body for $1500, but I wouldn't call it mint condition.
You guys might have gotten really good deals, but these cars are over 20 years old, and people like to beat on them. Finding ones in good condition with titles that weren't salvaged and restored is getting harder.
/ $.02
hey i paid 1100 for mine it has same just as good as intorior and runs great but this one has better paint i would say between 1300-2500 youd be getting a great deal take it for a hard test drive tho to make shure the apex seal is steal good
