Question How much back pressure does a rotary need?

I have a 13b gsl-se efi and i have just put on pineapple racing sleeves, a racing beat header/ 2.5" exhaust and a very hi flow muffler. My actuators were screwed, so all of this combines for very little back pressure. This is probably why it is idling poorer, if at all, although i didnt get it to operating temp yet. There was a resonator on the car when I bought it, but i think it is 2" pipe. If I bolt this up, will it help the b-pressure enuf to solve all of my problems, or will it reduce flow too much?????

NO engine needs or wants backpressure!

That is probably the biggest myth out there!

it will help the idle or the bottom end torque, though right? In terms of engine life, which is better, v-low back presure or, medium??

As low as possible!

Back pressure never helps idle or low-end torque. You may be confusing exhaust gas velocity and pressure wave tuning with backpressure.

ok, thank you all kindly. Another question:
I have a very small exhaust leak between the block and the RB header, are there any high heat silicone/liquid gasket that will solve this. It is too much of a pain in the *** to remove the intake again and put a new gasket on. also - when i put the Rb header on, i used high heat liquid gasket with the metal gasket , but that stuff doesnt work with oxygen (must be sealed tight)

The liquid is probably why it is leaking. Composite gaskets like the exhaust manifold/header gasket are meant to be installed dry.

Why would you need to pull the intake manifold off to remvoe the header?

I thought that i had to remove the lower intake to get the stock manifold out, and the header in. It was not a waste of time, as I had to clean it, block off all the emissions and install the pineapple racing sleeves, and lock-tite the actuators. The header gasket came right from mazda and it was a metal only gasket so i assumed i could use the liquid gasket along with it.

Well since you're just replacing the gasket, the header doesn't have to come out, it just has to be pulled back away from the studs.

No ****. The rotary is no different from any other engine, in that respect. Can you imagine flying across the Atlantic Ocean in a jet that had ******* big fart cans attached to the turbines??

I'd be worried.
