I have a very annoying squeak/rattle coming from what sounds like the back right top corner of the hatch on my 1985 gsl, and i have read about the hatch rattle fixes etc. but at the same time it sounds like it could be coming from the top of the shock tower. i pulled the carpet up and everything looks fine. how can i find out which it is if it only rattles when my car is moving? will i have to drive around with someone poking around in the back?

btw: it started out rattling about 20% of the time, like it came in bursts. now it rattles 90% of the time, and sometimes its completely silent.

 

I believe there is a rubber isolator at the top of the shock or spring that can be replaced.

 

ha. just kidding. the exhaust is loose.
