How does your Holley pump sound?

I noticed my Holley Blue was not constantly loud today. It would get loud as normal and then quiet down. This pump was constantly loud! How does your Holley pump sound? Is my pump dying?

Thanks, Ed

I'm going to put a gauge on it today and see if pressure drops when the pump goes from loud to quiet. it gets so quiet it sounds like a carter pump I had previously.

Thanks, Ed

Mine is loud as hell also, some times it'll get quieter but mostly it's just a pulsing grinding sound. I would not be surprised if there are significant pressure changes.

where is your's mounted and how is it oriented?
I mounted mine under the drivers side storage bin and put it sideways instead of verticle like your supposed to,
because I didn't read the directions ........I figured that might be part of the reason it's sooo loud

Mine is loud as well.... it just vibrates so damn much, and reverbs through the body.... i was thinking of putting rubber washers on the mounts.... but im too damn lazy... just turn my radio up.

Mine is under the the body on the frame rail. Just slightly tilted to the rear end. I got the guage teed in today and set my pressure at 5 1/2psi with my cheapo purolator reg. At idle when I first started the car pressure was at 6psi. When the pump got quiet there was no change in pressure but I did notice my pressure sometimes dropping and fluctuating during cruise. At WOT pressure was constant. I need to get a real regulator. I have been told that this particular regulator would fluctuate like that. Sometimes over and uder regulating. Could be the reason for the inconsistent performance of the car.

Thanks, Ed

How do you turn the pressure down at the pump?

I belive the Holley blue is permanently set at 14 psi.
If you spend alot of time at wot consistant fuel pressure is very important to performance.
The guy at auto zone told me to run my regulator in the return line to avoid pressure fluctuation, does this make sense?

My dellorto carb does not have a return line therefor its right before the carb. As far as I know EFI's run there regulators in the return line.

Thanks, Ed
