How do you swap to a 2nd gen fuesbox?
Ok, I'm tired of having to wiggle my black fusable link every now and then in order to start the car, and today I spent 30 minutes dousing the connections in electrical cleaner, and unplugging-replugging/wiggling links in order to find out I had to I had to bend a male connection pin in the fusable link box to get the car to even run without the lights flickering like mad. I want to buy a generic fusebox from autozone or get a 2nd gen box from a pull-a-parts. Problem is I know NOTHING about electrical systems, I have no tools other than some wire, wire strippers/cutters/crimpers and crimp-on terminals, no multimeter, no circuit tester. I searched the archives, but any and all pics were 2002 and 2003 expired links. I REALLY need to do this mod cause my fusable links are gonna drive me mad. Thanks for the help.

the FC fuse box swap applies to the main box in the engine compartment. I just want to make that clear.
wire from battery to the 80amp fuse then to main (usually the thicker wire).
for other fusible links, hook them up for the other fuses (i just used 30 amps). I actually solder these smaller wires to the stock FC wires. Be careful using them large female connectors as they tend to get loose over time.

Awesome! I read it, and I'm convinced that this is what I will do. I couldn't see any of the pics (except the one of the fuse itself), and I'm wondering if it's my computer or not. I'm not that computer savvy. Is there something I have to click on to see this pics?

Thanks guys. Will the fuses in the stock link box (which wasn't designed for fuses) work as well as a whole new box (that was designed for fuses)? I don't need the extra slots for anything like fogs or an e-fan, so 3 would do me fine, I just wanted to know if it would work as well(as good enough, not the phrase meaning "also").

Thanks for the pics. Yeah, I've seen these kind before. Is there any talk about 30-60-30 being to high? I'm wondering what kind of luck people are having with 20-40-20?

Ok, I went out and got them. 30 60 30. All is working well (for now) it's the same as if I played with my fusable links for a few minutes, only I had to do these twice(the fit in quite snug when next to each other and the middle one was having trouble wedging in). They work now, hopefully it'll stay that way or I have bigger problems.
Can the main fusable link making bad contact make the tach go haywire when applying the brake? Cause that was happening a little today too before the new fuses. The igniter is a "new" one from a junkyard 7 cause I thought it was the problem before, I still have my old ignitor too, and both are treated with thermal paste with every install.
