How do you lock the seatbelt?

When braking hard my body kinda leans forward. The stock seatbelt will not lock, because my body tilts forward slowly.

If possible I want to keep the stock seatbelt and not buy a harness.

I think the stock seatbelt is good enough it's just that it needs to be locked in position so you can't loosen the belt while driving.

Is there any way I can fully tighten the stock seatbelt?

Try pulling it out by hand and yanking on it hard several times... that'll probably get it working, also getting down to it to clean it off and oiling the mechanism a bit... if not send to the dealership or get new ones.

I would suggest pulling the cover off of it, and looking at it. If it's completely covered in hair, dust, grease, and who knows what else, it won't work. Essentially all it is, is a lead weight attached by a wire to a little wedge that swings forward when you brake hard; essentially locking on the teeth of the seatbelt reel...

What hes asking is how to PERMANTLY lock it so it acts like a harness, not how to make his work again .

twist it a few times then click it in. some people do that for autocross, cause it keeps it pretty tight.

twist it around so it doesn't slide back through easily. you can twist the thing you clip in a few times, that'll probably do the trick.

Here is what I do at autocrosses.
Set in the car with the seat in the position you want to drive at.
Now recline the seat back a click or two.
Take a zip tie and where the seat belt goes threw the loop on the a-piller (I think that is what it is called, the spot up next to your head) and wrap it around the belt.

If you want something a little better looking than a tie wrap, if you go to the baby section of pretty much any department store they sell a clip that does the same job. It is used to lock the seat belt for the use of baby seat.

If you want it really permanent, then open up the box. Put the seatbelt on at the length you want and mark where it's at. If there's a little lever that swings out under hard braking to make the seatbelt lock, then just weld it in the locked position, and make some kind of stop so the seatbelt can't go back into the box.

I really don't know anything about the seatbelts, but from what you have said about how it works, then my idea should work great for it.

I think the a-pillar is the one by your side mirrors, and the one by your head is the b-pillar and so on

It will only lock if you crash.

JK. I don't know if the 1st gen belt even locks. I know mine doesn't, and I have yanked on it pretty fast and hard to test it.

I'm pretty sure it will allow my entire body to shatter through the windshield before it runs out of slack.

But, at least it will look cool.

Mine locks easily, if I pull on it fast at all it locks. Sometimes if I just try to pull it down too fast to buckle up it locks on me.

Mine too.

Mine also locks whenever I want if I rapidly jerk on it a few times. Like if I grab it, yank down, then let it retract quick then yank on it again before its all the way back in, it will lock. Sometimes I do that after Ive reclined the seat a click, then bing it back up and the weight of me pressing on the seatbelt wont let it retract to unlock and it holds me really tight . If that even made sense...

Do what I did and put in a racing belt below the stock belt for racing applications and when you want to feel cool driving downt he road.

Try yanking on it while hitting the brakes, or turning hard. If it still doesn't lock up, get new retractors.

You could try to fit corvette seatbelts in there. My friend has a 84 vette and on the seatbelt at the bottom, it has a 'cinch" button. When you push it, it locks the seatbelt. His brother also has it in it 91 vette. Just an idea.
