MI How do I get a replacement ignition key?

mY IGN KEY HAS RUN AWAY how does one deal with this problem??? Hate to punch it!!!!Please email any good ideas lonesomebob@comcast.net

Take your passenger key cylinder out. Your gonna have to dissamble the door panel and remove a gold clip and a connecting rod. Take the cylinder to a locksmith should be about 60 bucks. Or you could look in the classifieds and find a lock set.

If your going to take a cylinder out, take the rear hatch one out. It's much easier.

all you have to do is take your registration into Mazda and they will cut you a new key from the vin number. Most dealers atleast want to see the registration and an ID so you're not just cutting a key to steal a car.

They will sell you a new key, but it will be for an RX-8

not so much...mazda still sells the original key blanks and with your VIN or the key code stamped into the passenger side lock cylinder, the dealer can cut you a new key. the RX-8 key is just a key blank without the transmitter and will not work in the 7 due to its vastly different shape.

I found the key at my local library in their lost and found box , had been there for months .
