Got my 80LS in highschool when I needed a cool car to drive, paid $3500 and it was in great shape, one owner, garaged winters in Colorado, very little rust. Since then, was stolen twice, raced in SCCA CSP class, blown engine due to leaky oil cooler lines, and has been retired to the garage where it sits today, slowly getting picked to pieces until it will be sold to the American Cancer Society for a tax refund...
My 84SE came from my dad who bought it new in August of 1893 for $18k decked out. I learned to drive on this car before my 80LS came along, and due to not having the title on the 80LS for my drivers test, I was able to take the driving test in the 84SE - even chirped the tires coming out of the Traffic Safety office! I immediately explained to the examiner that this was not my car and it had a lot more power than what I was used to driving (I passed).
After that, it became the recipient of all the SCCA racecar parts that I'd accumulated on my 80LS, and sits as you see it today. SE bought at 88k miles, and now has 172k miles (purchased for $2500, I might add). Has been the best investment in my time and money than I can think of.

My -SE was a "rescue". =)
A friend of mine bought it a year and a half ago, intending to pull out the 13B and replace it with a small block chevy. He got a second project car, a Maverick, and the starter went out in the FB, so he decided to sell the FB and concentrate on the Mav. That fine car has been in my garage for the lsat five weeks or so getting a rehab.
Finally got all the front suspension parts in and started putting things back on the car tonight.

Got my first one of my friend, SE. Saved up some $$ and GF helped me out alot. Then got stolen then found another SE for $1300, then a week later the cops found her NOT STRIPPED.
Then I crashed the $1300 SE. Then found anther GS with 86-88 13B Streetport threw a 48 DLHA sidedraft.
Then my recent one, I went down to San Degio to kick it with a friend then get back home and browse the fourm for a little bit and found this thread

Woke up early morning next day after going all the down to Sand Degio went back again @ 5:45am got there at 7:15am. I fixed all the sheit the damn rat bastard chewed on, bought a new battery got her running and was out of there by 11:00am and back in LA about 2:00pm.
Cool huh? Runs soooo smooth.
Here are pictures of her. If you look closley there are rust spots under the rear hatch....those hace now become rust holes other that everythings perfect even the center console is still bouncy if you lift it dosent just drop close and the ORIGINAL RX-7 floor mats are still plush....ooooooooooo

I got my 82 GS from my son. He bought it for $800 from the estate of the original owner. It had 75k miles and came with a receipt for every dime the guy ever spent on the car. It had been sitting for about five years so I told him if we couldn't get it running in a few weeks I'd buy it off him. The rest is history, He's driving a Saturn station wagon and I got the 7

I got mine from a friend who was going to make an auto-x car out of it, but he has too many projects and it has a salvaged title. He didn't want to go through the trouble of getting it registered. I picked it up for $700 and I'm going to use it as a daily driver. I got it smogged on Saturday and it passed like a champ. The car is all stock except a K&N filter and 17" rims. I still need to get a brake inspection, a lamp adjustment and have the DMV verify the VIN so I can get a license plate and the Pink slip for the vehicle. I killed the clutch driving it around, though. So that needs to be replaced, should take up a bit of next Saturday. Other than that it runs like a raped ape until the clutch gets hot and starts slipping.

I was going to test drive this 87 300zx turbo at my dealer, only to find that it had just been sold.
the guy who sold it, threw me some keys that had Rx7 on the tag. I was like "okay" except I didnt know how to start it. THe guages didnt work, and the hood was really bent. Not to mention if was dirty as ****.
I drove it and fell in love. It was a piece of **** then but I knew it had potential. I agreed on $1000 with the Used car manager (it only had 88,000 miles and very little rust but it was rough)
I immediatly brought it into the detail bay, pulled the bumper strips, buffed the car, bent the hood back and added a fuse and the guages lit up.
car was damn near perfect after about 5 hours of detailing. I drove it off, and the Used car manager was just staring at me.
yessssss!!!

My stepdad's sister bought my car at Holiday Olds/Mazda in San Bernardino in 1980 and drove it until 1992, when she parked it because the clutch was weak. It sat out in the Kalifornia sun for almost ten years until my stepdad asked if I wanted it. The sun had taken it's toll on the paint, but the body is completely straight and rust-free. I replaced the clutch, and replaced the thermal reactor with a Racing Bleat header and presilencer, and have been using it as a daily driver for a couple of years now. The motor is definitely tired at 160k, but once I got some old fuel issues sorted out it has been pretty trouble-free. Also, the steering and suspension is still quite solid. Not a bad deal for free!
