My 1985 RX-7 idles too low, and the manual has a diagram showing me how to adjust the idle set point, but I for the life of me cannot find the idle adjuster. Can someone with a 1st gen post a picture of the screw that I need to turn to adjust the idle? I'm really trying to avoid just messing with things without really knowing what I'm doing.
The mixture screw from the factory has a metal cap over it because Mazda didn't really want folks adjusting it. If you change it, could the 1/4 turns. When adjusting any of them, do it in small increments. Take some white paint and put a mark at 12 o-clock before starting.

It’s really hidden! For the idle speed adjust, look at the attached picture and follow the silver pointer marked with a red X. Follow it over the rat’s nest and under the plate where the throttle and choke cables attach. It’s another inch or so past the plate. Get in there with a flash light, and look for a cross head screwdriver head. I have adjusted in a dozen times, and I still struggle to find it!
The mixture screw is vertically below the solenoid valve (look for where a black and white wire enters the carb, that’s the solenoid valve, then look approx an inch below the solenoid valve).
When found, get some paint pens and paint one red and one green. Really helps next time!
