Question Hotwireing an 82...

I need help finding a quick and easy way to start an 82 I bought off someone a while back. Never really thought about it but when I got the car he didnt give me the keys or anything. I wasn't interested in getting it started just wanted to use parts off it. No wim wondering if the car runs. I at least want to be able to turn the car over so I can try to find out what parts are good in an easy way, cha-know?

well, on my 79/80's if you take off the shroud, there will be a lil ignition thingy, un screw the one screw there, and then there is a "flat head" type indention...... stick a screw driver there, and crack it over like a key... the steering wheel will still be locked...... but thats on my 79/80, go check it out to see if its the same..

please nobody hate me... The column still isnt unlocked. so people would only be able to start the car, not drive it...

Uh yeah you can, a good hard twist and that lock no longer works...

dent puller , jerk the lock cyclinder out, and a flathead will start it

if they wanted your car... they would take a piece of spark plug (the ceramic is GREAT for breaking small parts of windows) , a drill thats cordless, and a flat head screw driver........ My brother was(got busted by a pal who snitched ) a car thief, but he only stole GM's where he could pop the column easily and quickly...... or where he had the key, so the charge would only be "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle"

but, yeah, Ive talked to alot of his old friends, and they have spilled their guts about how they stole cars, because they like to brag

"How to best attach a winch chain from a flatbed truck to an FB to yank it out of someone's driveway, without making alot of noise...."

At the rate these are coming, I won't have to wait too long....

I figured this one out by accident. I was looking in the heynes manual to find info on why the car wasn't starting.... somewhere in the procedure it says what to do to test if your ignition switch is the problem.. "touch white wire to red wire" I believe were the words that caught my eye... Then it clicked that the Heynes alone could teach me all I needed to know, which was: I need a car alarm for my baby!

Yeah...

It's not hard to steal these cars.

I live in an apartment complex, and my car is parked about 20 feet from my patio door. I was sleeping on the couch, right next to that door, so I was what.....23 feet from my car?

A towing guy, was able to open my car, shift it to neutral, push it into the middle of the lot, and back up his flatbed to my car..........before I woke up.

And, I only woke up, because a loud *** other pickup truck was driving through the lot.

Of course, he wasn't stealing my car, they were towing cars for us morons that forgot it was the day they were too plow snow out of that section.

But, you get the point.
