Nology Hotwires?

I read a lot of places that the NGK plug wires are the best choice, but i've been looking into the nology hotwires. is there a specific reason everyone says to go with NGKs? are any of you guys running hotwires? is it worth the extra cost over the NGKs?

Most people have no need for upgraded plug wires/leads so you should ask yourself do I really need them.

Dyno tests on actual FC's have shown a loss of about 5 HP peak when using Nology Hotwires.

You'd be better off putting on the cheapest possible generic brand wires from your local auto parts store than using Nology wires.

NGK or Jacobs are a much better choice for medium to low priced spark plug wires.

I have msd and they are sweet, they are like 56.00 at summit and they come with a heat shield cover, i'd go with the msd's anyday. or if u like yellow go with accel, i had them and they never gave me any problems either but the MSD's seem to be much better quality

Now, people reading this thread... you must know that no spark plug cable in the world will give you more HP, but bad ones will lower HP by reducing the spark or as in the case of the Nology shortening the spark duration.

Don't buy spark plug cables thinking you will gain HP. It is impossible to gain HP by just using a certain brand of cable.

At best you can hope for is returning to stock spark levels if you have crappy or tweaky spark plug cables.

On the nology, they have ground wires attached to each plug, why wouldn't that help out? I understand once the spark is there you can't really improve it too much but adding grounds seems to help out every where, even so on the exhaust (don't ask me, ask mazda hehe)

The ground wires are only sheilds for the wires. Properlly installed and functioning plug wires do not need sheilds.

So no, there would be no gains.

And the stock exhaust system has several grounds. Most people throw them away when upgrading or let them rot off and never replace them.

I do have to ask, what's the point to upgrading the grounds, just to reduce the resistance? Or what's the point of keeping the grounds to the exhaust? I'd much rather have all of mine working after seeing some issues on here!

Because grounds get disconnected or removed, and the contact edges get corrosion, all leading to reduced grounding with age.

Top that off with (IMO) 90% of Japanese cars and trucks are under gauged on the ground wires from the factory when new.

well icemark with my new msd's i noticed that the plugs aint black with unburnt residue. while in the other hand with the stockers my plugs would often be filthy and i constantly would have to clean them. Im telling u that my car feels a bit smoother and it sure does save me time cuz now when i unplug my plugs there perfect, no need to clean them =)

Key word is NEW how old were the previous plug wires before you changed to MSDs?

just thinkin ..SwiftFC..you ever think that the old wires were "breaking down" and giving you intermittent spark?..I thought my misfire was due to plugs so I bought new plugs and wires..I tried just the plugs first with the old wires(thinkin I could return the wires if not needed) and I got the odd misfire..then with the new wires and the new plugs she ran smoothly..
