hood scoop, finally

Well i finally found a hoodscoop. It's a "bolt on" scoop, no fabbing necessary (filler etc). It will kind of end up looking like a TII scoop on steroids. Now first delima, painting it. I will probably go black for now and paint it next year. Second delima, placement. Center it for cosmetic reasons or offset to the rioght to feed fresh air directly to my 14" airfilter (with a K&N lid of course) sitting on top of my camden. You opinions. I just sat it on the hood, it has studs so that is why it is sticking above the hood and not flush.

def put it where it's needed. It might not look as good but just wait till you drive it. It will be a happy wankel with all that fresh air!

I have to agree it would looks better centered if looks is what you are going for. If you are going for best use offset to the right should make your super charger VERY VERY happy.

yeah it's a 79 capri scoop, the early 80's mustang one is similar it just doesn't have the leading edges up front. I like the capri one since it will be a little similar (much bigger though) to a TII scoop. Also, centered looks much better. I figure I can fabricate a cold air box under the hood extending to the air cleaner. Here is a colaboration of pics with mine, a TII, and a mustang scoop. I got pretty lucky I figure, only $40. I pohoned The Mustang Shop and they said these are about as scarce as hens teeth now.

Look at the bright red one. Mine looks really big because it is sitting up on the studs and it is not painted yet.

The scoop looks big enough that even if it's centered, you should be getting a pretty good amount of fresh air to the intake. If you had it off-centerd like that, people who are not familiar with 7's will tell you that your scoops on wrong (not that they know anything anyways).

I totally agree, it "will" be centered.

Ya, centered would probably be the best. Either way its good. It will cool down your alt, and engine bay.

This was a video from 2 years ago, since then more boost, more carb and coon bridgeport. http://media.putfile.com/compilation2-57 Soooooooooooooooo, yep the scoop will be "functional" and "beneficial". Trust me, I like the stock look, but she needs air. Tried the carb hat cai thing but that doesn't work at all.

If it is functional then all the power in the world to you.

Speaking of which, I really hope you throw up some vids of your supercharged FB after that hood scoop is painted and all.

It isn't my cup of tea either, but like you said - its going to need all the fresh air it can get.

Here are some better mockup pics with it fitted on a spare hood that's kicking aound (holes drilled but scoop's not bolted down).
