hood air extractor

hey...I have read about the Porsche GT2 and the mitsubishi EVO VIII having ducts that extract air from the area directly behind the rad, and direct it over the hood to increase the down force and decrease the C.O.D. My question is...is this possible with a rotary? how much does the engine depend on the air moving over the rotor housing for cooling? would the engine over heat if there wasnt that constant air moving over it (i suspose thats part of teh reason for the huge cooling fan and not a plain electric unit)

P.S.

I guess i just wnat to know if the red can handle all of the cooling by it self.

They have for 20+ years in all forms of competition, but the hood extractor look is to die for...I'm thinking of metal-working a hood to get that look...

you could build one with a piece of sheet metal before the engine, a slot in the hood and a lip at the front of that slot to create a vacume...I am just concerned about it causing cooling issues...

There will be no cooling issues, only water-pouring-into-the-dam-when-the-car-is-not-moving issues...

so just make some drain holes at the bottom...there arent any electrics there...just the rad...maybe it would work better if it were under water!!

Water exhibits a physical characteristic of flow known as capillary flow. In other words, it will follow the surface under the hole and drip on your alternator or dizzy at the most inopportune moment following any one of Murphy's Laws....

I plan on doing a one off unit for mine out of CF with a Shroud or duct coming off the bottom of the rad with an electric fan and an intercooler mounted up top... the v style mount that the third gens use...

I just don't like that the shroud is attached to the hood itself...
