Holy hell it lives and a quick question

Well in my efforts to see my girl friend in New York I have been busily working on the FB. It still looks like crap and still doesnt have an exhaust. But anywho I love my mazda dealer, seriously, I went down there to get a new stock pump for myself and was expecting to pay out the *** for it. But the service guy gave it to me for free. hahaha. So I go back to the car and pop it on just to hold me over until I get paid on tuesday until I get the holley and my RB intake and edelbrook carb on.

I turn the remote switch on and let the pressure build turn the key and in 3 cranks it started right up. Went through its little rev thing and settled down at about 1200 rpm. I got out and adjusted it down to about 900rpm. This is the lowest I have heard this car idle. I felt so accomplished. lol. Got back in and after letting it warm up took it for a little spin around the mountain. Yeah no blocks around here lol. And its the best the car have ever felt seems to pick up a ton better than when I got it. Took it back to the storage place and parked it. But I couldnt shut it off. Messed up key switch I think. So i just cut the power to the pump and shut it down for the night. Covered it back up and went home.

Anyways. My question is how far would you guys/gals drive your fb. I need to make it to new york from here and its an 8 hour drive. Would you guys trust your 7 to make it that far. I need the green light so I can leave. Woot I feel so good I am damn close to getting to see her. WOOOOOOOT.

Is there anything you guys would suggest that I take along in the back of my car such as premix or emergency parts stuff like that.

Thanks for an help

Thanks for the input guys I mean it this is the most important trip of my life. Anyways an update because the car is like a fricken walk from my house. I need an exhaust for the trip and because I lean towards the cheap bastard complex I think I am gonna run a RB header gutted cat into a canister angled exhaust. All this may be done by the end of the week and of course Ill take pics.

Also for the people that are gonna say ricer on the exhaust. Its gonna look good trust me. None of this half assed stuff I have seen where it pointing at the ground. Im gonna do it all Supra style. You know angled out and up. Should keep the flames from cathing my leg hair on fire. . I am also looking for the right Diamiter pipe probably gonna runs 2.5 in stainless all the way back. Not as cheep as aluminized bu I can get it fairly cheap around here.

up and angled??? ohhhhh like mine but that comes from having 3" pipe going UNDER the axle i think it looks pretty sweet. but i also painted my muffler black so it's not really noticed. as long as it doesn't stick out you'll be fine.

I drove my SA from Louaisiana to Missouri 6 times in 6 months, 15 hours each way, not a single problem. Racing beat header/exhaust, racing beat manifold, holley carb, MSDDFIS. 25 mpg. Bring a basic toolkit with you just in case.

What carb are you going to run...Holley or Edelbrock, can't tell from your first post. Looks like both lol.

duct tape (or a spare alt. belt) , volt meter, fusible links, spare radiator hoses, extra fuses, common wrenches and sockets used on the FB, screwdrivers, carb spray, flashlight, fix-a-flat (if you dont carry a spare), jumper cables, extra oil, mechanics wire, bag of random screws, nuts, bolts, zipties... lol i have way too much **** in my car. usually when im working on it i just toss everything in the storage bins after im done. so i end up being a portable mechanic. i dont mean to be, it just happens.

christ i even have extra door handles in my bin hatches. lol

I have been driving mine daily to everywhere I go. +60miles to and from school and then all the other rides I go on, about 17,000 so far this year. Only prob I have had is a altinator that went up, and a battery that died. The little cars are wicked reliable if you take care of them, I mean my odo reads 218k miles now, and she pulls hard ^.^
