ummm... if your 79 is stock, its already got a nikki carb. from what ive read, seems like the webber 45 (maybe 48?) IDA is popular choice.

im not too sure on what kind of racing beat exhaust (i thought there was only one kind, im probably wrong though).

He wants to know which carb and Racing Beat exhaust would be better with a '90 13B 6 port engine. If the exhaust has to be Racing Beat and it is a 1st gen car the it is a no brainer, the streetport (long primary) system. I wouldn't use the Nikki on that engine. You need more flow. Sterling might be able to fix that problem though. The Mikuni and Weber side draft kits are very similar but the Mikuni seems to idle a little smoother. That's from personal experience though. Maybe I just suck with Webers. Others like the Weber IDA downdraft carbs. I personally prefer the Racing Beat modified Holley carbs. The Holley manifolds are the highest flowing manifolds available for the 13B. It doesn't neccesarily mean that the car is fastest with them. I've had good luck with the Holley and Mikuni setups. Both can make some really nice power.

The Sterling Carb would work well on that engine, but you'ld be on your own regarding the manny.

If you need an intake manifold for a Weber 48IDA onto that 13B, I have one for sale. 225 shipped.

I have a 90 SP 13b in my 82. Originally I had a Weber 48 IDA with the secondary port sleeves removed. The car made a lot of top end power but it had alot of driveability problems. The car didn't like steady state operation, it backfired when going from WOT to closed, it wouldn't start if it was colder than about 50F, among other little annoyances.

I switched over to an S5 intake and Haltech F10 and I have to say, it's worlds better. It makes noticeably more low end torque and high end power. There's no problems with backfiring anymore and part throttle feels great. The whole thing cost about $1700 as opposed to the $850 for the carb, but it's well worth it in my opinion.

I am a holley guy myself.. probably because I haven't tried anything else. But I love the holley racing beat setup. Easy to install and runs awesome, no problems on start up or anything, worth the money.
