did you ever wonder?

did you ever wonder what would happen if you seven slid off the jack while perched on the front cross member? it jams up the splash shield breaking your electric fan, pushing your radiater all out of shape. and bending the whole radiater up into the hood. and denting the hood from the inside out and cracking the paint, will post pics tomorrow

Well, I did wonder that, but I was more interested in my personal health requirements which would be negated if I placed the jack insecurely.

Actually, that's also why I never support the car via the crossmember. Let's see the damage.

happened to me once.

check your radiator because I bet where the top temperature sensor hooks up there will be a crack and it will leak under pressure.

The radiator support you can just smash back down, but I bet you will need a new rad.

Wow man that sucks, but the car can be repaired.

Good thing you are at least OK enough to post a message about it...

So while we are on the subject, where are the good spots for putting jack stands in the front? I'm using the tow brackets right now, the jack points behind the front wheels are starting to look a little weak. Glad you're OK Dankus.

He was probably jacking up the car while it happened, at least I was and thats how it slipped off.

my problem was that I was jacking ip up in the winter time and the bottom wasnt defrosted yet, so the ice on the crossmember helped the jack slide off.

Cant remember 100% it was years ago, my first 7 in fact.

You only need to do that once to learn your lesson.

that really sucks man!!! i once had my 86 crx fall on me while i was under the car. luckily, the scissor jack cocked sideways in the rocks. i thought i was pinned. i turned my head sideways and couldn't look striaght. in the 15 seconds that i was under there, i thought of how many people would hear me if i yelled and where i could yell to. well, luckily as i said before, the jack was cocked and i was able to slither out, only scraping my face on the exhaust and the oil pan. it taught me a valuable lesson about balance and hurrying. i was working on a vaccume leak and a nut fell that i couldn't reach. so i jacked the car up at the front, cralwed under the car to retrieve the nut that rested on the oil filter of all things. then the car lost balance on the jack that was poorly placed. also, anyone who has worked on an 84-87 crx, you will know the meaning of vaccume line disaster.

Wow! I'm glad you can still type.

I had an employee who dropped a car on hiself .

He broke two ribs and was out of work for a while. The jack stand broke. I threw them all away and bought all new ones after that.

Very pretty car Dankus, love the yellow. Thanks for the post, I went out and bought a set of jack stands and am learning how to use them.

I've been wondering the same thing you have:

"Mar , how do uou install the pics in the post" ???
