holley 600 vs nikki (SA vs FB) on stock port 12a
Ok...i have like a whole free day tomorrow...and what im wondering is if its best to go back to the nikki carburetor on my stock port 12a or is there a way i can make my holley 600 better for my engine...cuz right now its running really sh!tty with the holley...
Another question is...is it alright to put a 79-80 nikki and mani on my 84 gsl...and what changes (if at all) it entails.

Bimmer *****
is that holley RB modded? i don't know if i'd run a holley on a stock port 12A, tho that half bridge ur working on i know i would lol... with a stock 12A i think the stock nikki is plenty enough...

yeah...its NOT a RB prepped or modded (whatever you wanna call it) holley...its just a holley 600...and idk if its a double pumper...how can i tell? And as far as the 1/2 BP that i have...thats mainly what i wanted to use my holley for...it should work just fine...the only thing that i have done is reduced the primaries to .56s...
Anyways...what i really need to know now is if i can use my nikki and intake mani from an SA...

THANKS! looks like i have a project for tomorrow!
1 last question that was never answered very well in my last thead...i had my old setup on a while ago (stock nikki and mani)...(just as like a trial)...and i when i started the car up...it would just revv like a mother...(7k+)...is this most likely a vacuum issue? Or am i really stupid and adjusting the mixture screw (im pretty damned sure im not) instead of the idle screw?

a 79-80 manifold will bolt up to your 84. but it will have one hell of a vacuum leak right above the exhaust. 81-85 manifold has an extra piece for emissions that their engines have an opening on the center iron for. the 79-80 does not have this opening so the manifold doesn't have that emissions piece. when you do it it is load as hell and spits crap all over your exhaust and fender well. hope you read this before you start tommarrow. if not , you'll have a **** fit like i did.

love the braaaap
Thats true, but with proper tuning, it will still make much more power than the stock Nikki. Its all about getting your tuning right. But as for the stock Nikki being plenty for a stock port 12A, I say BS. The stock nikki is *just* enough for the stock 12A. It starts to choke the engine at about 6500 rpm, thats why the 12A looses power after that point. I remeber that by 7000 rpm, my engine seemed like it just didn't want to rev anymore. There was just no power.

noooo sir. 600 is perfect. use a 1" spacer and drill out the pvcr's till you get a good afr for cruise and WOT. now this is all pending on if you have a 4150 or a 4160... again, mwatson is the holley "on rotaries" genius. i'll prove to you soon enough that a holley 600 double pumper will work beautifully on a stockport 12a.
