Hi, and has anyone seen this front end

Hey guys I am not much of a poster mainly just reed about stuff. I drive a blue fb with koseis. I finally figured out how to shrink pics so here is just some preliminary pics. I snagged this front end and wing at a junkyard. I still don't know if I want to stray from the classic look. I have had the blue car for about 4 years, and have done extensive work on it. Just to list the big ones: lsd/disk rear swap, street ported engine, mikuni carb that I just rebuilt, holly blue fuel pump(new), pacesetter header, rb muff, straight mid, 15" kosei wheels, rb springs, tokico illumina shocks, and of course all the restoration parts, bearings, seals, rad, hoses, lights, and still more to go. I put the sunroof in it from a different car, and welded it in. I painted it myself with an old timer in a barn with acrylic enamel, and it kind of sucks. I also have a tendency to drift everywhere I go. LOL I am in the process of redoing the interior right now. I need to paint it again soon, esp if I decide to put the front on it.

I have been a 1st gen fan for a while now and have never seen anything like it.
I was just curious b/c it might be a one of a kind from the eightys. lol

Exactly. It's like they were going for a Buick Grand National with 1/4th the power.

I was actually going to say BMW also .. very unpractical and plus one on the homemade. Where did you get the pictures from anywhere? Junk yard? Anyhow the setup it very very restrictive to air flow from those pictures. Not enough to cool the radiator and more importantly on out cars the oil cooler. Plus not to mention brake cooling and what not.

HaHa I love the honesty and the love for the 1st gen original lines. I thought it looked a bit like a bmw also. I generally hate body kits, but this car was customized in the 80's and thats what caught my attention. It does need some work before it would be usable, but I got it and put it under my deck. I was also concerned with the cooling issue, as I am toying with the idea of a turbo.

Thanks for the honesty. I will post pics if I put it on, or shoot me an offer.

I believe you found the only remaining test mule of the RM7 that Mazda and BMW rejected.

Probably why it's sitting in a junk yard.

A long time ago, a fellow made front and rear bumper eliminator kits (to save weight). IIRC he was in the midwest somewhere. He made this front end as well as just bumper replacements for the front and the rear.

I am not surprised that you can't remember his name.

.....part of the joy of getting old. There was a write up about his stuff in the lesser known Mazda RX-7 Club (not the RX-7 Club of America) technical manual they published. I'm sure I could dig it up.
