33-37 mph if you redline it between 7k-8k.

You should'nt be redlining in first anyway. You're running a bit lean in first (if stock carbed), and should you hit a bump or wet spot, you can blow by redline quite easily- NOT good.

Andrew-
"but .... Sterling... do you know how to tune a holley?"

No. Does my sig say, "Just send me any old friggin carb and I'll gladly do the research on it, obtain the necessary parts for it, and get it working for you like I'm your personal little carburetor slave?" No, Andrew, it does'nt say that.
(I'm just playing, so keep yer knickers on!)

Not being a wise-***, but it seems to me you should try HERE about your Holley carb.

My friend's mechanic pegged the 85 mph speedo in second gear in his 81.

Bridgeported 12A, 48 IDA, stock everything else.

Hehe, redlining in first was back in my n00b days... I try to shift at peak power now. Besides... 1st gear is your highest gear ratio made for letting you jump off the line--you'd be wasting time if you brought it all the way to redline, right?

Before my new RB Streetport exhaust went on... I'd hit about 30-35 in first gear.

Now... I hit 42.
