not so bad at all to do
buy some tags to lable various wires and connectors
perhaps take a number of digital photos if you want to go bak to original or for reference during conversion if you dont have a second same gen rx7
takes two days if you clean and are through and put on an exhaust.

Nope, nobody's done it, it's impossible
Just kidding, it's a relatively common swap. Not as common as TII because if you're going to go through that much work most just go the turbo route since it isn't that much more, but I've seen it in person.
IIRC you're looking at a fuel pump and lines, an oil pan, a front cover, a front crossbar (available at RacingBeat) and some wiring.

Theres absolutely no reason to throw a carb onto an EFI engine.
All EFI rotaries have excellent powerbands and very flexible midrange torque.A carb might net you more topend power, but youll be lacking the lowend and midrange the EFI provides, which is the power you use during 90% of driving. Not to mention the ease of running and driveability EFI gives.
The S5 is a bit more complex to install since the electronic OMP issue has to be adressed. Its a very good engine however with 160 stock HP,good torque and a factory 8000RPM redline. The S5 has a smoother EFI system than the S4 and has a real electronic diagnostics system, something lacking on the SE and S4 injected engines. And since its EFI is of the metered air type,it takes to mods very well.
You will need the entire right side harness, all the underhood EFI components, the FC underhood fuse block, the FC main relay,FC circuit opening relay and some wire to make up a new left side harness. Then read and study page F1-8 in the FSM to figure out all the wiring,F1-8 is the BEST wiring layout Ive ever seen for the 2nd gen engines and covers every wire you need to worry about.I just finished converting my buddies 10th Ani TII to a S5 TII and Ive been running my S5 TII engine for about 6 years now in my 84.Its quite easy once you understand it,and theres no need at all to cut or splice into the 1st gens wiring......

Search a bit too,the S5 swap has been covered many times. And it doesnt matter if its N/A or TII discussion......its the exact same work in regards to the EFI/wiring/fuel system.
