Hey, how hot do the FMOC SS lines get?

Need to wrap a spot in some plastic or something to keep it from rubbing and sawing through a bracket, but I don't want the wrap to melt or burn.

the oil lines wont rub thru a metal bracket. it would be the other way around. i just have a regular shop rag on mine. probably could use a piece of that foam pipe wrapping for water pipes to keep them from freezing.

Well, the bracket's aluminum, but anyway I'll look around for pipe insulation, although it's usually sold in packages that contain a lot and I only need like a few inches max. What about heater hose? Would that hold up?

They'll never get higher than the oil temp... which shouldn't ever get much above 190*f or so if you are NAed.

You sure? I could see this being true of the rubber lines, but he's talking StainlessSteel, I think they might be an issue especially if the bracket is aluminum.

So anything that's rated for 200*F should be fine, yeh?

I personally dislike steelbraided lines. I have seen several RX-7s in the junkyard with a hole/crackon the line or loose end fittings which could be the reason why these RX-7s are sitting in the yard for parts.

I prefer the HP oil lines that are crimped/welded at the end fittings.

ah, he DID say SS didn't he, and wasn't mentioned in the original post that this metal was aluminum. i was thinking how mine is routed. and yes, heater hose would work just fine. check how much the line is pressing against the aluminum with the engine running.

Or just strap it so it can't vibrate. If it can't move, it can't cut.

Yeah, got a piece of heater hose, looks like it should be fine. I guess I'll find out when the car gets running.
