Hey anyone got a bit of advice

Hey everyone,
My mate and i just recently bought a RX7 - Series 1. We are into restoring cars but dont know much about rotaries. Were gunna give it the full treatment. Does anybody here know anyone whose ever gone the full treatment and roughly remembers wat the costs were and what they did to it?

Unless it's an 84/85 GSLSE it isn't worth the expense. Find and advertised SE and test drive it. Youll immediately know what I mean.

He said it's a series 1, which is the ultimate 1st-gen.

Besides, they did not get the GSL-SE in Australia. It was a North America-only car because Americans and turbochargers do not mix.

The first gens overseas are different. They always kept the series 1 style dash. Not like the U.S. market that came out with the -se. I believe the are all the same. not series I, II and so on. What does that matter anyway he just wants to make his faster... Why do people think if it's not a -se then it's not worth fixing. I have a 79 and 80 and would never trade for a -se..

I don't like SE's as much as the rest. I don't like the 6port and they're quite a bit heavier.

The dashboard has little to do with the series of the car. There were FUNDAMENTAL body changes between Series 1 and Series 2, and slightly less fondamental between Series 2 and Series 3.

Also, *all* NA-market Series 3's had the fugly dash, not just the GSL-SE. But at least it doesn't crack easily

I do not think that is exactly true. You find the later dash in other countries, however only in LHD configuration. The S1, it is a good choice. A -SE model has several disadvantages such as 6-ports, sunroof, heavier weight, and rear suspension (not as good for lowering). The other SE components are not as good as the aftermarket components which you put on such as brakes etc.
