Here is what Mikey has been up to :) Project Money Pit Update 2,000,000 :)

Ok spent tuesday and wednesday on the car... I got the trans mounted, it is a simple redrill holes in the trans mount (not the x member) and it fits, Ill get pics of that later if someone is interested

The Haltech install is about 65% done. Only thing left is the Air Temp sensor, I have to make a new throttle body inlet anyways, so Im waiting on that. The coolant sensor needs to be done I have to go find an adapter today so I dont have to tap something thats already installed (front water pump housing) And the TPS is still yet to do, thats GONNA BE A REAL BITCH. Fellow Cosmo buddies give me a clue on this one

The o2 sensor is yet to do, but that will be on the downpipe that Im having made so its simple...

The Haltech is remarkably easy, the big scarey manual is the only scarey part. I have done alarm/remote starter combos that were way more intense than this.

PS Jeremy see I do actually do something when your not here (everyone jeremy comes by and Im standing around not doing anything )

If I had a multi-thousand dollar piece of electronics in my car, I don't know if I could just stick it under the carpet... I'd probably make a gold case for it and display it on the dash lol.

This car is going to be SICK.... there's just no other word for it. Off the ****** hook. Having a nice FD is cool, but having a first gen that can embarass most every one of them is unreal. The ultimate sleeper, surprising the hell out of anybody you run into.

It's great that we have people like Mike who are willing to pioneer this kinda stuff on the forum. I know it's not the first time anyone's done this, but to have it all chronicled out on the forum with pictures is phenomenal. I bet we're gonna see more of these in the future as people become aware that these seemingly dream-like possibilities are very real. And when people like me grow up and start making money to finance that kinda thing

Not shown in the picture... By the way on the Haltech with terminated loom, you have to make your own connectors (with the supplie pieces and pins) for the CAS and coil packs It changes color on one side of the plug to the other (the car ones that is) and kinda had to think and double check it 3 times to make sure I was right

The Haltech will be guarded by the factory piece of metal that supports the passenger well, actually its a good 3 inches to the floor, its probally better protected there than it would be out in the open

Thanks for the kind words, I often rely on the support of you guys too, I have thought MANY times that I should have just done a small block 400 with a nice carb and intake, headers and been done. But that wouldnt be any different than what Im going after, it would be kinda cool to say your 5.0, 5.7 etc just got stomped by 80 cubic inches!

Check the archives matey, setzep did a real nice writeup on it, the only other thing is the stock tranny mount (not the x member) has to be redrilled 5/8" froward, and 1/2" each side inward, its self explanatory, then use 1/2" spacers on the x member bolts to the body (lowers the trans and shifter down a little)

Are these like GM connectors or something?
They look good and insulated for the heat.

I was planning to use the wiring harness out of my
organ donor car. That way the plugs, etc all look
similar.

Looking good so far Mike.

Are you going to mount the radiator directly behind the IC? You might have some overheating (well maybe not in KY). The Air immidieately aft of the IC is considerably hot. a 2 Core (instead of 3) might not keep up.

This is why I told you to mount the IC at an angle FC radiator style. Keep us informed.

The radiator will be mounted in the stock location. You think you can mount a NPR IC like a FC, all power to ya I personally know its not as easy as it sounds...Without cutting down, or moding the endtanks.
I doubt I will have cooling problems anywhere in the US! Im probally gonna run multiple electric fans. also designing a sheet metal air damn under/behind the bumper so it forces air into it. Im running my turbos intake up there, so I can start with air thats about 30-40 degress cooler..

The Haltech comes with plugs for this, you have to crimp the pins and put them in the appropriate location.. I personally crimped and soldered the pins...

You see when you get yours... When you getting your hands dirty? LOL You gonna love mounting that TPS, think im gonna use the factory one

i think you just quit when i come over so i won't touch anything, lol. if there are any heat problems you could always try the water wetter. that stuff seems to work very well for the 3rd gen guys. you also need to update you sig that jeremy stole the 80's wires, air filter, and gas tank.
