Here is my Project Update, as Promised
well as some of you may know, i had some problems with my rx7, broke the suspension while trying to upgrade it, and i broke my bleeder valve, and it was all rusty as per this thread.... https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/i-could-really-use-some-inspiration-574590/ well some of you gave me kind words, which i appreciate, and someone said i should start looking for a clean shell, well i had already planned that, but things developed at a pace that is quite astonishing. i found this thread..... https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=574683 and within 3 days, i was on my way down to north carolina. nearly 900 miles each way.
i went with one of my bestest friends, mike(he's on here, but rarely posts) we drove down in my escort, which nobody thought was a good idea. and we took his gps, and im so glad we did, cause there was so much construsction. we left on friday night after i got out of work(my boss let me out early, how cool is that) at 9:30, and we made it there at 12:45 i took the car for a drive, and then offered him 1000 for it, then we were on our way.
my buddy had an aunt that lived in raleigh, and that was only like 45 minutes away, and he wanted to see her(had been several years) so we called her up, and she invited us to stay the night. she made us dinner and breakfast, and packed us a lunch for the road
well $180 in gas, $27.50 in tolls, 1900 miles, $1000 for the car, and 48 hours later, im the proud owner of this rust free 1984 mazda rx-7 gsl...
we didnt have any problems on the drive, the clutch on my escort started to slip again, but that wasnt a problem as it has done it before. and as long as your easy on her, she'll treat you good.

here you can see the busted door handle. you can also see the sidepost battery, and the terrible wiring. as well as the bungie cord holding the battery into place. you can also see how the e-fan is held on with zip-ties. there is also a picture of what the terminals looked like after i stripped the wires and re-clamped it.

Don't let anyone rag on you about the fart can. My car has one on it, it was there when I bought the car. I get many comments about how good it sounds, before they realise it's a fart can.
That type of muffler certainly has a unique sound on a Rotary, and doesn't sound anything like a civic..........

heres some more. one demonstrates how poorly the e-fan was attached, and the other show the missing aeropiece...i dont know the exact name of it, but the part over the rad.
the fart can actually is not as loud as you would expect a straight pipe to a can to be. i think its so quiet because of the stock manifold. kentetsu can vouch for this. but i have a mindtrain exhaust to go on, and when my carby get back from rob, that will be thrown on as well.
oh, and check out how they did the rats est delete...PENNIES!!!

I also have the stock exhaust manifold, for now, and they do tend to be much quieter than a header. Even with a SP engine, it can be kept at a fairly quiet tone, unless I open the secondaries. All bets are off then........

how many ponies did you get?? and was that all gas coming out of the muffler?? seen as how you would be producing alot of vacuum when you cles the throttle plates at 8500 rpm.... i mean i dont know why it would be oil, i dont think 8500rpm would ruin a seal, and i dont think it would have pver heated.

Nice job with the pics PC. I have to say I dont believe I've ever seen a "short" shifter like that. If the throw was as short as the shifter it would shift when ya reached for it. Looks like they didn't put the top on it.

Throttle plates did not shut. The primaries were still wide open when I got the air cleaner off. I didn't risk a second pull, just unjammed the throttle, and unhooked it. The dyno had a tuning session schedualed, and the guy arrived a few minutes early, so I just cleared the dyno for them. Thankfully, it didn't cost anything except a few missed heartbeats.......

lol, you still have the numbers on from the race... Awesome!
Yeah, his car is loud but sounds pretty good. I was out front when he pulled up, and I heard him from about a block away and just knew it was a rotary coming. The thin walled tubing is the only downer, when idling and you're up close to it its like bees in a coffee can. If that part was fixed then it would be a pretty damn good exhaust for the price. But hey, the mindtrain ought to fix all that. I want to hear it when you get that on PC...
