Unhappy HELP with rats nest removal

Hey guys i finished up my rats nest removal for my 79 using the guide from the FAQ but it still isn't running right. I finally got it to idle after capping off all the vaccum nipples on the carb but if i try to give it gas it usually dies or boggs out when i hit the gas unless i just tap it. Someone told me it's getting too much gas. Which leads me to my next question. On mine i can hear the fuel pump running but it never shuts off. Right when i turn the key on it kicks in. Isn't it supposed to shut off after a while??? Your answers would be greatly appreciated. I've attached some photos after the removal. tell me if i did something wrong.
Thanks,
Dave

Fuel pump noise is normal. Unless I have a full tank of gas - and even then - I can still hear the fuel pump. It also gets louder with less fuel.
I use the noise as a low fuel warning, haha.

Do the accelerator pump mod for the bogging when you step on the gas.

Well first make sure that its functioning, and functioning correctly before you do that. Its not doing its job. Fix before you mod. Look down in the carb and make sure its squirting as soon as the throttle is moved.

When diagnosing a problem, I try to look at the problem step by with some sort of logic as to cause and effect. You may wish to rethink your's. It bogs when pressing the pedal. Tapping the pedal first seems to work around the bog. Someone told you it's getting too much gas. Your solution is to do the AP mod to increase the squirt even more.

Tapping the pedal should give it a squirt of fuel, your 'someone's' advice is wrong.

If you're getting a healthy squirt from the AP, and this problem showed up after the Rats Nest removal, leave the AP alone and go back through your work, you missed something. Fwiw, the fuel runs as long as the key is in the on position. This is true for all models, until the S3 when the fuel pump relay was added.

Hey guys I just got it going last night. All I did was clean the points, Clean Plugs, and Spray Seafoam down carb primaries and spark plug holes. Now she idles at a steady 500-700RPM.

Dave- thanks for the info
we SA'ers have enough diffs with our Nikki's (I think) that the FB Nest Removal can't be taken literally - if you have successfully De-Ratted your SA, a detailed post on how you did it would be appreciated!!!
Unfortunately your photos are a bit vague on exactly what was done - maybe some descriptive step-by-step AND photos (OK, they really should be in focus ) would help?
Thanks
