Help me with the fuel sender on my new fuel cell.

im mounting my fuel cell today and I got some questions on the fuel sender.

on the stock sender, there are two wires.

Is one of these a ground or do they both go up to the dash.

I ask, because I plan on replacing all the guages with autometer, i would rather not have to route new wires if I dont have to.

what do you think.

I think one is a power and the other goes to the gauge. When you jump them together the gauge will read full.
Hope that helps.

What cell did you get? Where are you mounting it?

Its the summit Pro street fuel cell 16 gal, foamed with a GM fuel sender.

Im mounting it under the back in the stock location.

I had t seal up the stock vent fitting and install a filler neck on the drivers side and it mounts up really easy.

Looks badass with the all clear aluminum fitting and SS braided line comming off the back.

Ill have pics as soon as im done with this part of the project.

Cool, I'll be waiting for the pic's. I have a feeling I will have to ditch the stock tank/sender in the near future.

I have the same cell as you.

Since you're going with aftermarket guages, I won't tell you about the quick and dirty fix I did on my sender.

2.5ohm. Also a little rewiring. Infact, since I don't have one, or two 5 ohms to hook in parallel, I'll just use it as is for now. It's still quite accurate and will read E before it's completely empty. This is like a safety feature or something, so I don't run out of gas. Hmm, like one or two gallons left I think.

Thinking of doing the samething with my fuel tank. How did this work out? Did you post any pics? Any weight savings here over the stock fuel tank? (did a search but can't find a follow-up to your last post on this thread)Thanks.

The only weight savings you'll get with a fuel cell are from carrying less fuel than the stock tank. The cell and stock tank are very close in empty weights. Full weight of a cell depends on its capacity.

I still don't have a resistor.
