IL Help Identifying a possible missing part

Hello everyone! I just recently bought my fist car an '85 rx7 GSL. I wanted to paint the plate that goes around the shift ****, so i pulled it out with ease and found some form of towel stuffed around the transmission. I removed that, and put the plate back on. the shift boot isn't connected to anything so as of right now I can see the ground while I drive and can hear everything. is there a plate or something that should go between the shift boot and the transmission to cut down on noise and make it so I can't see the ground? Thank you

attached is the parts catalog pic. not the greatest thing in the world, but 64-492 is the rubber thing bolted to the floor, 58-832 is the metal ring on top of that. 64-331A is the boot that goes around the shift lever and on the boot bolted to the floor, and 64-331 is the shift boot/plate assembly.

the shift plate has tabs to hold the boot on, but these are usually broken

The parts can be found at the dealership or Black Dragon. It will cost about $100 new for both boots.
