Ok i replaced the fuel filter and nothing and from what i could see it has no spark so i replaced the leading coil and nothin happend anyideas? ohh yeah forgot to say i replaced the cap and rotor too.
Did you check for spark on the leading and the trailing? If there is no spark on just one, it is probably a dead ignitor (black boxes on the dizzy). If there is no spark on both the leading and trailing, check to see if you are getting power at the coil + terminal. May be a bad engine fuse or possibly a bad/loose fusible link. Do all other electrical systems work?
Since you have an '85, you need the trailing spark to work to run the fuel pump. If the trailing died, that would explain why the engine died. If you have ignitors from the other car, swap them in. Should get you going unless it is a blown fuse causing the problem. Good luck.

Sorry. Dizzy=distributor. The ignitors are the two black boxes on it. The one in the front is the leading, the one closest to the alternator is the trailing. Let us know what you find out.

I'm betting you lost just your leading ignition. This would leave your timing so retarded (firing late) that you would only be able to keep it running by keeping it revved up. Could be a bad coil, or a bad ignitor. You might try switching your coils around and see what changes.
