Hell Yeah!!
My car runs!!!
I fired it up for the first time tonight after working on this project for 2.5 years. Started on the first turn of the key. Now it's time to get a timing light so I can see if what the haltech says it's at is what it's really at.
Not going to sleep good tonight!
Can't wait to play with it tomorrow

Just went out to the garage and took a couple quick pics. I still have some work to do like make heat shield for turbo, relocate air filter (so it isn't sucking hot rad air), get some good hose clamps for the IC tubing and a couple small things I wanta change. But tell me what you think, positive or negative.

Here is the remote mount oil filter. The filter holds a quart of oil. Also have a gauge right on the filter head so you can see what pressure you're at while dinking around under the hood. The oil cooler is under the drivers side headlight (no I didn't shove the stock rectange one in there ). It's about 10x10 inches and has a 8" fan mounted to it with a shroud.

holeee ssshhhh ...
which snail are you running? (if you don't mind my asking ... if it's a secret, i understand)
all in all ... i give you two thumbs up for the presentation and install!
i especially like the oil filter assembly with the gauge ... REALLY nice touch, dude! yeah, i agree about finding insulation from the turbo's heat. building a shroud is a must, but also, wrapping the turbine should also increase efficiency, right (at least in theory)? and, yes, the air filter needs to be moved away, but i guess finding an ideal spot may pose a small challenge, with a nose full of intercooler and all ...
great job! after 2.5 years, you deserve it ... enjoy!

Thanks, it's a Mitsu TD07 turbo with a 25G compressor and a 17cm turbine housing. I guess it's like the T-78 but with a different compressor (T-78's is better).
Well off to get a timing light so I can zero the timing and try to get it to idle a little better.
Thanks again for the kind words!

Looks OK, i donno, i think you should have cleaned the engine bay up a bit, looks kind of messy.
(Just kidding of course). That is a truly beautiful thing, man.
And you know, from all the posts i'ver seen about you'r car, i've ONLY seen engine shots. Post some pics of the whole thing!!!

inittab- Thanks for the kind words!
Mschafe- We'll see
iotus-I'm more about the go than the show. But you're right, I still have a few loose ends to tie up.
haha, you're right, I can't remember posting any pic's of the whole car in a LONG time. Maybe I should do that. It looks 100% stock becides it sits a little lower and has a 3" flat black muffler out back (no bling for me). But it sure doesn't sound stock
gonzz- Got it from fc3s.org If you are looking for a j-spec get it from there! Dave there is a great guy to deal with and will make SURE you get a good engine. Looking to make 350rwhp at 15psi.
1984 special- Thanks, going to hit the steel yards monday to try to source out some thin stainless.
I just did some no load tuning and I got it to idle MUCH smoother, had to take out a lot of fuel. When it ran it last night it was smoking like a **** even at idle, when I took out some fuel the smoke went away the rpms went up and it stoped stumbling. Now I need to get my hands on a wideband o2 meter so I can start the process of load tuning.
On a side note to anyone that wants to do this to their FB/SA. I say do it if you have #1 the money to spend and #2 if you have the patience. There were some times where I asked myself WTF I was thinking but now that I'm close to the end it's all worth it!

79+80+84- hope tomorrow is nice so I can put the hood back on and wash it, then I'll take pic's of the exterior. The inside is half -se interior and half 83. Seats, carpet, door skins are gray -se and teh dash and headliner is 83 black.
J Oliver- hmm... free rack and pinion for getting your car running, sounds tempting! Oh wait you are way up in BFE, nevermind
Still have the D sleeves in. We'll see what they can get me for power. I didn't want to take the engine apart just to replace the sleeves so they stayed in. I'm glad I did to because this engine seems to be pretty good, at idle it pulls 20in of mercury.
fatboy7- thanks, I'm going to need all the luck I can get while tuning this sucker. Next on the purchace list is a WBo2 meter. I think thats the last of the big $ items (thank god!)
LTProject- haha, went to bed at 3 last night because of this car. Hope to get a WBo2 soon so I can do some real tuning then it's time to take out some hot heads

thanks guys, I made the manifold from scratch. I didn't want a cast one so I had to make one If you take a look at the 3rd pic you can see the external WG hanging out under the DP.
